The Wrong Girl - Chapters 15 and 16
The story...

Nina shares this story to Aaron...
I knew I should've been happy for my best friend; she was marrying the guy she loved. This was a perfect day, everything to a new person would see an example for perfectness. All the arrangements were working their way smoothly...
I went out for the last look before people from god-knows where would start filling the small church. The room was a perfect mixture of red roses, while lilies and green leaves. It was so much fun to design it all out together with Ely and Evan... okay I don't believe in idiotic love poems and stuff, I'm practically a robot when it comes to all the falling in love thingy, incapable I'd say, but I gotta say I was a little moved by seeing just how they could take care of each other. Okay I'd seen it before but it hadn't hit me like that all the time.
Ely was just 18, marriage wasn't in the to-do list of hers but suddenly she was so in love with Evan that when he proposed to her in front of us (some close friends of Evan, me and Ely's sister and her boyfriend).
Till date, no one knows if Evan had planned the big proposal or was it random at its best, but till now everyone doesn't seem to be able to digest the fact that Ely jumped in happiness screaming "yes! Yes!!" louder and louder until she could laugh no more.
"flowers to deliver.... they are for Mr. Evan"
I broke free from that chain of thought and eyed that big bouquet filled with roses and orchids... okay it looked grand and all but call me miss smarty pants but who'd send such a giant bouquet full of roses and orchids to Evan? Everyone from his small family was invited... so me smelling something wrong took it and looked at the small yellow card.
"It isn't right ...S"
That's all it said, 3 words... on his wedding day, who'd send such weird gifts?
I don't know why but I threw the flowers out from the window literally and went to see if Elena was having some of her famous anxiety attacks...
Elena looked gorgeous, so innocent like a young bride that she was... Jonathan entered the room so instead of ruining the perfect father-daughter moment I excused myself and made myself busy.
After about an hour, the small numbers of seats, for the family were full. I took my place as the maid of honor with Rebecca in my flowing blue dress. Evan came looking all ruggedly handsome, nervous and excited all at once, anyone who saw Evan could tell that he had never been this happy in his life and I knew just how much he was waiting to see his Elena in that white dress waiting to be his wife.
Evan winked at me and smiled as I whispered to him my final luck. As if on signal, the sounds of wedding bell, the tip-off for Ely to appear filled the air of the church. The wide glassed door opened and all eyes were set on the girl to appear.
Elena, blushing and holding her father's hand appeared on the door. Evan took a sharp breath in and probably wondered how in the world he got so lucky with this girl... Elena smiled and looked at me briefly and then their eyes met...No words were necessary, just the way they looked at each other was enough to tell how much happy they were to get married.
With all the awe and romance filling in the air I saw Sarah... what?
Okay Sarah was the best friend of Evan, but she wasn't invited in the ceremony. And as far as I knew it was Sarah who decided to bail the ceremony with all the history with Evan and all.
Okay a brief pause in the ceremony going right now to give you guys a heads up on who exactly was Sarah.
Sarah, she was this tall, sexy and smart blonde chic who was Evan's best friend. And one drunken night in Evan and Ely's apartment, I heard the story of Sarah and Evan. They went to high school together; they fell in love and stayed together all through high school. But the climax made an appearance, Evan had to leave for army training... and they decided it to be best if they break it off on good terms and remained only friends. Well even during his tough army training, they stayed in contact and somehow were great friends. When Evan returned after completing his trainings, he wanted to get back together with Sarah, but back then she was seriously seeing this guy named Eric, who is completely out of the picture now (at least that's what I've heard). So Evan and Sarah remained best of friends. But even with Eric out of the picture, Evan and Sarah only remained close friends.
Look I know, she was all mature and stuff (she was about the same age as Evan) and she seemed to have already accepted the fact that Evan was Ely's man now, but deep down I never really liked her. Whenever we met, she looked not only at me but also at Ely weird. No matter what Evan said, I knew she always felt that the relationship between Evan and the minor chic was never gonna last, and so when the news of their wedding landed more like hit her she went berserk for days! She rejected all of Evan's calls and even disappeared, and two days before the wedding "informed" Evan that she wouldn't be visiting the wedding ceremony because it would be way too awkward.
So why come pay a visit now at the last moment?
Going down the long lane of memories, I almost missed the whole ceremony. Thankfully I didn't.
The minister was saying the traditional lines saying, "Speak now or forever hold your peace..." and as if to expect someone to object a long row of silence proceeded.
As if someone would dare to take away the lovely couple's dream of a married life away... (well I didn't know I was gonna be so damn wrong!)
A meek voice suddenly filled the church and every head in the seat turned to the source of the voice saying, "I... I object"
"Sarah??" a very shocked Evan yelled.
"What's all this?" Evan asked.
"I... I don't think you should get married to her."
"And why is that?" the reverend asked.
Some guys in the tux tried to stop her, but somehow she reached in front of him and everyone sat on the edge of the seat to witness the drama unfolding in front their eyes.
"Because this man standing in front of me is the man I love... is the man with whom I spent the best years of my life, because he's marrying the wrong girl. I care for him like no one else can... I know I've been a chicken all this time but when I knew I was going to lose you forever I just couldn't take it anymore... I had to" she choked...
If she wasn't trying to ruin my best friends wedding, I'd probably feel sorry for her. But damn she was trying to ruin my best friends wedding and I hated the bitch.
"Sarah??? What are you talking about?" Evan yelled frustrated.
"No, just let me say what I came here to say... I love you Evan, and I belong to you. I do... and if you know I'm right you'll know where I'll be."
And then she left running for her dear life.
And then... the room just got freaking awkward... Evan just stood there, not knowing what to do, and all eyes possible were on him. And then something happened, something totally unexpected!
Evan turned around, almost shaking like he needed support just to even being standing there and looked directly towards Ely and whispered "I'm sorry..." and ran like hell...
But even though it looked like something else, something inside me knew he was neither running away from Ely nor was he running towards Sarah.... he was just running.
Chapter 16: Farewell Party
He's back!!!
Nina's POV
These past few weeks had been the pain in my ass, the only relief would be Aaron... I guess. After pouring of the heartfelt story of Elena, I kinda felt guilty. It wasn't actually my story to tell. Well for Elena, I seriously don't know what's running in her mind. I mean I seriously think she is in a serious case of self-denial and I'm waiting for the breakdown like last time.
Sarah officially entering our lives has obviously changed too little of things and I really don't know if that's a good thing or a bad one. The good thing was Elena's breakdown wasn't showing up, and Aaron's proved out to be a really good friend but the bad thing (as there's always a one or two in my life) Sarah went invisible again and Elena and I seemed to be on the no-talking basis. I don't know if it's only me that she's not talking to or the whole world. I have seriously no idea.... Aaron hadn't talked to her either as he says.
What is she trying to do?
"Hey.... Where you going?" Aaron came from the back.
Where was I going? I seriously had no idea...
"Ummm...."
"You wanna come to my apartment... you know hang?"
Oh yeah.... I was probably heading to meet Ely, good thing.
"Yeah sure... so you finished your big project yesterday or what?"
We talked all the way to home; Aaron and I didn't mention Ely once. I don't even know why... we just knew Ely needed time and I think that's all that we had to give and nothing else. Nothing we'd say could make anything better for her, nothing we'd do could make her stronger to face it, and all we could give her was time and her space.
But I just want to let her know that whenever she wants me I'd be there. Hey what are sworn for eternity bff's for?
"Nina is that you?" Ely yelled from the window as I was about to enter the house.
"Yeah..." I tried to look at the window but she wasn't there. She was already out the door and hugging me.
"I know you must be thinking I hate you and I'm ignoring you... but I'm not... I just..." Ely didn't complete the sentence.
"I know... you needed it. I just missed you sweetie..."
"I missed you too" Ely let me go and gave a huge smile.
"Ummm, if I'm included... I missed both of you" Aaron smiled.
"Of course you are Aaron! I missed your weird comments so much..." Ely said as we got into a tight hug.
"Aww, that's so sweet!"
We went in and filled each other up about all the things that we missed in the last month and about the final papers and exams and blah.. blah... We just talked and laughed talking about the party (obviously ignoring the way it ended but hey before the entire Sarah thing it was really fun to see Ely dancing her ass off).
"Hey Nina.... Long time didn't see you here..." Alex exclaimed seeing me.
Alex came up to me and was about to hug me like always but Aaron stopped him. why did he do that? Weird....
"That might be one reason she doesn't come here a lot..." Aaron said almost in a serious tone.
That wasn't the reason and Aaron knew it.
"What are you talking about? Nina doesn't mind... do you Nina?"
"Nope...." I went round and hugged Alex.
Aaron didn't seem to like it a lot...
"Don't make that face, you get one too..." I don't know that just seemed the right thing to do, and what's wrong with a hug right?
"Great you all are here..." Kyle said from behind.
Claire holding his hand from behind came to the living room and somehow reminded me of the couple announcing their wedding in July (like Elena and Evan). Well they did have an announcement but somewhat a different one.
"Guys, we bought a flat for ourselves... we're moving out next sem...!" they both screamed in happiness.
Then followed the long congratulations stuff and then finally came the celebration part, the part with drinks and fun...
The next morning I woke up, I was snuggled up with Aaron on the floor! What's up with that??
I slowly turned my head around, I noticed the watch, and it was 5 in the morning. Ely was sleeping in the couch, Aaron beside me; Kyle and Claire nowhere in sight (gee don't even want to think of what they were doing) and Alex was sleeping in the kitchen floor with Brit?
My head was spinning trying to remember all the details of what actually happened yesterday. I remember Brit being called up by Alex with all the alcohol for the real-early farewell party and I remember the drinking part...
Urgh who wants to remember other stuff??? It's all blurry and stuff... I just couldn't think anymore...
I went into the shower and got fresh before anyone else woke up. I smelled like well... I seriously smelled like alcohol and Aaron. I didn't even know that Aaron had a scent of his own. I just wanted to change, so without waking anyone up I walked out of the house to my place.
Okay my place wasn't all that good-looking like Aaron and Ely's place. It was comfortable sure, but grand like theirs no! But I can fucking guarantee that it does NOT smell like cigarettes and definitely didn't have cigarette butts all over my front door! That Brian needs another thrashing about smoking in front of the door... I somehow hated everything he did!
"Nini... is that you?" I heard the familiar voice call my old nickname.
I dead stopped in my place, trying to decipher what to do next. I slowly made myself turn and saw that ghost of a man and let out one name that made me angry, happy, irritated, nervous and scared all at once...
"Evan..."
--------------------------
so finally the wait is over! Evan's back! How do you think he's gonna act now? and what about the Aaron and Nina? what do you think is next?? he,he... hope you guys keep reading on.... =)
