The Wild West - Chp 2
Something happens and the only people that know about it or why it happened are just the ones who won't tell Bailey why.

They were rather entertaining to watch. Not to mention every time I looked back it gave me the perfect excuse to look at Nathan could defiantly watch him all day he just sat there and stared out the window, ok so now and then he would catch me looking at him and I would turn around blushing and trying not to have a panic attach.
After about an hours drive my granddad pulled in to another ranch this one looked a little run down but the horses looked fat and happy and there was a very pretty lady standing at a coral. Granddad brought the truck to a slow stop and turned to Nathan.
"Can you go make sure the girls are fine and see if they will take any water?"
"Sure thing Mr. Walton"
Nathan jumped out the truck and walked to the back of the trailer. I climbed out and followed my granddad to were the lady was standing.
"Afternoon Ms Carrick"
The lady known as Ms Carrick blushed and walked towards my granddad, ok wired.
"Afternoon Mr. Walton"
"Please call me Henry, Ms Carrick"
"Then I must insist you call me Alice"
My granddad gave a big smile and they shook hands, all the while they did not stop staring at each other, ok really this was just getting creepy.
"Alice this is my granddaughter Bailey, Bailey this is Alice she runs the Mustang Sanction here"
"Hello Alice"
"Hello Bailey"
She gave me a big smile and then turned back to my granddad and they started to talk about the horses we were there for. I turned around just as Nathan was heading towards us. Ok this was it I was going to talk to him like a normal human being and not just stare at him like a freak.
"How are the girls?"
He looked at me and wait hold on something flashed through his eyes like a mixture of emotions pain, sadness, anger, hatred and something I was not sure of why did he look at me like I had just killed his dog.
"They are fine"
He spat the words out and went to stand next to my grandfather. Ok now that was just rude and why did he hate me there could be no other word for it the guy hated me but why what did I do to him honestly I could not have done anything I just got here for goodness sake!
Well I can say one thing I was not just going to take this lying down I was going to get the bottom of why he hated me so much, you know what it's like guys mean and you just want him more. Ok I didn't have to date him or anything I just wanted to know why the hell he judged me so quickly and just from spending a few minutes leading horses with me he decided that he was going to hate me come on that's just not fair.
I walked back to where they adults and Nathan were standing.
"Well Henry I have the 2 geldings for you, they are very sweet not broken to saddle but they are tame enough to be handled"
"That's fine give my ranch hands something to do"
He chuckled and they walked towards the corral. Nathan looked at me and a look of longing flashed through his eyes but just for a moment so I could not be sure I saw right, ok so now I was really confused did he hate me or want me or did I just smell funny, you know what they thought women were complicated to figure out please men were just as bad, maybe even worse.
He walked off and stood on the other side of the corral, I went to stand next to my granddad and we gazed at the mustangs, they were standing in the middle of the corral and they looked a bit scared and not too sure of what was going on they were pretty though there were 7 standing in the corral all moving around but staying in the middle now and then one would give of a whinny or kick up its heels.
"So which two are we getting?"
I look up at Alice, she smiles and points.
"Well you see the one with the white and chestnut?"
"Yeah I see him"
"And then the dark bay with black main and tail and two white socks"
I watched the pair for a minute and smiled the white and chestnut one was a bit of a trouble maker he would bite one and get the group going and just whinny while moving off to cause a scene on the other side of the herd. I looked at Nathan who was standing on the other side he seemed lost in thought and was watching one horse I had not noticed towards the back under the shading stood alone horse he was completely black so you would not have seen him unless you were looking for him and he was bulky with height really uncommon for mustang to be that tall.
"Who's taking the black one?" Nathan asked from the other side
"Well no one at the moment he ain't been to kind keeps biting and kicking everyone that comes near him" Alice looked over to the black mustang
"Real shame he is so handsome, any one would love to own him" she looked sad
My granddad looked at him and then we all stared because Nathan was climbing the fence and making his way towards the black horse. Well this should be fun if he gets badly injured I may have to help nurse him back to health and that would not be a very bad thing.
"Just be careful Nathan, I am not rushing you off to the hospital I got two horses in the back"
"Yes sir and I'll be fine" he continued in an even pace and walked calmly to the horse.
Alice and Nathan exchanged a look and Alice just look downright nervous.
"Maybe you shouldn't Nathan" but a request fell on deaf ears.
The horses in the middle saw him and moved to the side and watched the scene, the black one was standing and looked like he was napping but all of a sudden his head shot up and he turned to look at Nathan as he approached. When Nathan was 6 or so strides from him he moved back and turned from Nathan, Nathan followed his movement making sure to keep going towards the horse from an angle, they can't see you if you approach them from head on (I'm full of fun little horsey fact). He got a few feet from the horse and obviously the black horse did not like Nathan approach and snorted and made a motion of charging Nathan.
Nathan kept right on trying to get closer to the horse, which upset him even more and the horse charged at Nathan he flew past him and Nathan fell on his bum, the other horses scattered to the far side of the corral and the black one stopped at the gate and turned, pawing the ground. My granddad gasped and Alice gave a little cry.
"Nathan son I think its best you get your butt out of there he does not seem to like you much"
"I think you may be right sir"
As Nathan made to move the black horse gave a loud snort and went to charge again, don't ask what possessed me cause honestly I would not know but I jumped the fence as fast as I could and I ran to stand in front of Nathan with my arms up.
"STOP!" I yelled from the top of my lungs and a blue light shone between me and the horse.
It was the weirdest thing ever he stopped and dropped his head and walked over to me putting his head down and nudging me I looked back at Nathan and his face had gone white. My granddad was yelling at me to get out and Alice looked like she was about to pass out.
But the black horse was quiet and just standing with me, someone grabbed me from behind and started pulling me back towards the gates. My granddad come rushing towards me and grabbed me checking that I was alright.
"You moronic, simple minded idiot!" he was yelling at me and patting me down all at the same time.
"And don't get me started on you Nathan, what possessed you to try that you idiot!"
He kept ranting like that for a while and checked to make sure Nathan was fine and then sent him back to check the girls.
"I'll get a few of my guys to get your two" Alice said and walked off
"Bailey why?" He was close to tears and just grabbed me in a giant bear hug
"Granddad I'm fine really! Did you see that light?"
He just looked at me like I was mad and went to help the two helpers with the geldings. Ok I know what I saw surely someone must have seen it to otherwise I was going mad, and I'm sure that I am not going mad. I went back to the trailer and just before I came around the corner I heard two people talking. It was Nathan and Alice weird?
"You fool what were you thinking? We are here to protect the girl and help her manage her powers not expose her to the world!" Alice hissed at him
"I had no idea she knew how to do that and how was I supposed to know she would jump in front of the horse" he hissed back
"Of course she would she would do anything to protect you, you moron!" Alice was getting very angry and I could hear in her voice she was panicking.
"Ok ok stop yelling at me, I get it bad move on my part it won't happen again"
"It better not because if he found out you almost killed his daughter or got her discovered he would have your head, again"
"Alice I heard you"
"Fine I have to get back"
"Wait!"
"What Nathan?"
"I want the black horse"
"Are you kidding me, it tried to kill you"
"I'll work on that and ill fetch him tomorrow"
"Fine then"
I heard Alice walking away and Nathan gave a sigh, ok that was the weirdest conversation I have ever heard, and what did she mean by "of course she would protect you".
Something weird was going on and they knew what that light was and I was going to find out. I went back around Nathan had lowered the door and was getting the hay nets up for the two geldings.
"Hi Nathan, are you alright?" I asked as sweetly as I could
"I'm fine Bailey" he turned away and would not look at me again
Dammit fine you butt head I won't be treated like I have some disgusting disease. He was really starting to get to me. I went back around the trailer and the two guys were leading the geldings towards the trailer. And I went to my granddad.
"Alright then we just load them up and we will be on our way Bailey girl" he smiled
"Great I'm exhausted and I want to hit the sack"
He gave my shoulder a squeeze and went to help with the horses. The two girls were desperately trying to turn around to see what the commotion was about and all of them were making the biggest noise. After about 20-30 minutes we finally got all the horses settled said our good byes's and were on the road to Walton Ranch.
Granddad was singing to the western on the radio and Nathan was looking solemn in the back, I pulled down the visor and checked my reflection and tried to sneak a peak at Nathan, my plan backfired and he was staring dead at me. I quickly put it up and tried to make as if nothing had happened which was easier said than done.
After half an hour I could see the gate to the ranch it was like coming home from a long vacation, it felt good.
