The Weird Superheroes: Chapter 9

Clay use a button on the Superhero Maker to make it possible to transform into Speed Demon and Muscle-Man without changes clothes. They both realize that they must lie to Pat. Also they learn Jesse told Kristin and Aaron about their secret identities.
"Now I am going to make it so we can change into our Superhero selves just by thinking about it," Clay said.
"How are you going to do that?" Michael asked wondering if he had another machine to do it.

"I push a button, and we walk into the Superhero Maker's chamber, as we walk into the chamber a robotic arm comes out of the machine and pushes a button labeled, enclose. Clay explained as they did it. As they entered the chamber, and the door shut Clay reminded Michael of one last thing.

"Remember in order for this to work you must think about how you looked before you put on your costume."
"Gotcha,' Michael replied.
At that very moment a robotic arm came out of the machine and pushed the button labeled, enclose. Slowly it returned to where it had come from.
Inside the machine's chamber the two friends began hearing a slight humming. They knew the robotic arm had done its Job but what was going to happen next they had no idea.

Suddenly bright flashed of light began to appear very rapidly. A sparkling sound filled the room, along with small dots beginning to form around them. They tried to move but couldn't. It seemed like the machine was forcing them to stay in one spot. Know that machine would never do anything to harm them they no longer tried to move; letting the machine do its job.

Then as quickly as it had started the machine stopped; with the door opening. Stepping out of the chamber Clay commented, "There now we can change into our Superhero selves just by thinking about it."

Michael looked at his clothes. Funny, I don't remember feeling a change of clothes happening, he thought.
At the other end of the machine, they suddenly noticed the Pat was beginning to move slightly.
"Hurry we've got to remove the blindfold before he thinks something's up!" Clay exclaimed.
"I'll hold him down gently while you remove the blind fold," Michael suggested.
"Good idea." Clay agreed as they rushed over to the chair Pat was sitting in.

Carefully Michael held Pat down as Clay removed the blindfold. Finishing they quickly stood up, as to make it appear they hadn't done anything. Pat slowly opened his eyes and looked around.
"What am I doing in here?" He stuttered continuing to look around the room.
Clay and Michael exchanged worried glances searching for a lie they could tell him. Still not sure if he had a lie Clay spoke, "Well, uh oh you fell asleep on the sidewalk outside my house. We didn't want to leave you outside so we brought you inside to my room."

"It's about 5:30 and I think you should go home about now. I mean your Mom's probably worried about you by now," Michael quickly added.
"You're right I'd better get home," Pat agreed as he stood up ready to leave.
"Look Pat I'm sorry about now inviting you over," Clay added.
"That's all right. I wouldn't have been much fun seeing as I fell asleep before I even arrived to your house," he replied.

"Well. I'd better go. See you two later."
"Yeah, later," Clay muttered.
After he had left the room Michael gave Clay a sarcastic look.
"What!" It had to be resolved! I mean it was what we were fighting about the whole time."
Michael just closed his eyes and shook his head sarcastically.

Outside Pat walked down the steps that lead to Clay's house barely noticing the damage that had been done. He was still out of it. As he walked towards his house his wondered why he felt so wore out when he had just a few minutes ago been asleep.

Meanwhile back in Clay's room the phone in Clay's room had just begun to ring.
"Hello." Clay said answering the phone.
"Clay I have some bad news." Jesse said in a worried tone over the phone.
"What do you mean?" Clay asked calmly.
"Well Michael's sister Kristin and her friend Aaron came to my house," he answered.
"What did you tell them?" Speaking again in a calm voice.
"At first I didn't tell them anything, but I could tell that she could tell I was lying so I told them everything," he explained.

"You did what?!"
Noticing Clay's voice was a bit too loud Michael motioned for Clay to lower his voice.
"I told them everything," he repeated.
Lower his voice to a near whisper Clay spoke again.
"I can't believe you did that!"
"Well, what do you expect? I buckled under pressure."
"Don't worry I bet Michael can fix it. Just don't tell anyone else," he instructed.
"I won't promise," Jesse reassured him.
Having said that they both hung up.

"I gather that was Jesse," Michael guessed.
"Yeah, can you believe it?! He told you sister everything!"
"Oh, I can believe it. My sister can be very persuasive. But I don't think she could give a care about my life."
"I hope you're right," muttered Clay.
"Well, I'd better be getting home. I bet my Mom is wondering when I'm coming home.
"Yeah, you're right." Clay agreed as they walked to his front door.

Clay's Mom was there in the living room watching the news. She stole a glance towards them, and got the strangest feeling of Da j`a vu.
"See ya." Michael said as he walked out the door.
"Bye."
About ten Minutes later Clay's Dad pulled into their driveway, coming how from a long day at work. Stepping out of the car he noticed the damage done to his front yard.
What the heck happened here? He thought as he walked up to his house.
Did Clay and Michael have to lie to Pat?
Yes, for sure.
No, there could've been another way.
Neutral either way.
