The Want and the Right
Another Buzzle Author, Dream Walker, emailed me asking me to write a poem about being stuck on a decision, between what one wants, and what's right.

Have I known all along?
I'm just sitting here tonight,
Trying to choose with all my might.
Should I follow my desires?
The thing that sets my soul on fire?
Follow my dreams, fulfill fantasies,
Color me happy, but no guarantees.
Should I go with the righteous?
Honor to keep down internal riots,
Keep me in check, stay in control,
So my conscience won't take its toll.
I need to choose, I need to know.
This is not an eternal show.
The clock is ticking just for me,
I need to know or they will flee.
To go for the want?
To go for the right?
I need to pick now,
Or they'll race out of sight.
The clock is ticking,
I need to start picking!
While all along I can feel my grip slipping.
Riot, I buy it,
My mind won't stay quiet!
I'm losing them both and I cannot deny it.
The time will come,
When I must decide.
Until then I shun,
My thoughts and my mind.
