The Vampires Pet - Chapter 9
My heart bet loudly in my ears, almost drowning out her next words...
I know it's short guys, and it's taken a while to come out. I am still not really pleased with the writing, I don't think it's my best yet, but I am just trying to get the storyline across and I will maybe do a re-post later.
Sorry if the next chapters take a while to come out. The holidays are coming up and I haven't yet figured out if this will give me more time to write or less.
Also thanks SOOO much for all the comments, 37!!!!!!!! on the last chapter! My most yet by a far! Wanna try and beat it?
Enjoy.

"Lucy! Lucy!" I scream, standing in the middle of the living room. She was back. How could she be back? How did she even find us in such a big city? And more importantly, why was she looking for us?
"What?" Lucy snaps, walking out, still in her pyjamas. For the hundredth time I do a double-take. Lucy face was now slightly deformed with a scar that ran down her jaw line. She had got it in a fight not a week ago, she had gone out clubbing by herself, without us, and got attacked. No surprises there, she should have known better, she knew what city we were in and the dangers. But I had no time to waste now.
"Kasey’s back." I say flatly. Her face changes comically.
"What?"
"We walked into a bar and then Kasey walked in, I don’t know anything. Why she is back, how she found us, nothing. So don’t ask. Damien is bringing her here now, they should be here soon."
So we stood, in utter silence, for five minutes, waiting for them to knock on the door. Finally there were heavy footsteps. Hmm, why was Damien running?
"Cole! Cole!" He sounded breathless and panicked, I threw the door open just in time for him to come stumbling in. Before I even saw her I knew something was wrong. Lucy gasps as Damien lays her limp body on the lush carpet of the hotel floor.
"Kasey!" I quickly cross and kneel beside her, my hands on her body.
I tried, I promised you I tried with all my might. But her heart had stopped. Her chest was ripped open. Everything was moving too fast!
"We got attacked, the high princes, Damien did this to her. I also…I think he killed both of her parents, and she went home and found them. He…blamed her for Justin's death." Damien gasps, wen I look up at him I realize he was crying. I was in a numb shell. I lay my hands back on her chest and bow my head.
"Cole, man…" Damien starts. I stay silent, and continue to try and heal her. But there was nothing left to heal, because she was gone.
"Cole, it’s too late. I tried, I did."
"There’s nothing we can do, if Leana didn’t want it this way then it wouldn’t have come to be." Lucy says, but she was crying too. We had dealt with death many times before, and I knew we would forget about her soon. No! I quickly disagree with my own mind, I will never forget her!
I look down at Kasey, but I couldn’t say that she looked happy or peaceful, her face was free of emotion. Simply blank. I wished I could have apologized about yelling at her, and I wished I could have trained her. There is so much we didn’t know about her, maybe if we had done things differently we could have saved her young life.
"Oh, god, someone please move her." Lucy gasps after a few minutes silence, placing her hand over her mouth, looking sick. I gather her into my arms and take her into the bedroom. I lay her gently onto the bed, what else could we do with her at the moment? Glancing at the door there was no-one there so I place my hand gently on the side of her face and close my eyes. Nothing, there simply was nothing. I blink rapidly but one of my tears still falls onto her exposed cheek. Turning quickly away so I could see no more I go back into the living room.
"What are we going to do?"
"Our life isn’t over, this is just another step. We will keep going on with our work. Come on guys, we see death all the time."
"What are we going to do with…the body?" Lucy chokes out.
"We will wait until tomorrow, until the police have calmed down outside, then we will decide." We all nod our agreement.
We order diner form room service and for hours we just sat in the motel room, not talking. Each angel lost in their own thoughts. We will have to call Leana tonight, but of course she will already know. She knows everything, or so it seems. Finally Lucy turns the TV on but if you looked around a few minutes later it was quite obvious that no one was watching it. And even with TV voices chattering in the background, there was a silence about the room.
Soon darkness fell, and I felt sorry. Sorry that I never apologized to Kasey, sorry that I made her walk with Damien instead of bringing her here myself, sorry for not being able to save her and sorry that she had to go through this at all. It was hard on most people, but she was just a kid.
To make myself useful I get up, it must have been about 9, to turn the lights on, as we had been sitting in darkness these last few hours. I close the blinds, we had to be alert. Damien hadn’t been capable of talking much and I didn’t know if the vampire Prince or Princes would still be after us.
As I was closing the last blind, the bedroom door opened…from the inside! Kasey pokes her head out.
"Do you guys have some Panadol?" There was a stunned silence as my heart bet loudly in my ears, almost drowning out her next words.
"What?" Kasey asks, she was still looking a deathly grey, but her eyes were open and wide.
"Kasey, you’re ok!" Damien chokes out, still no one made a move towards. Her face becomes confused and slightly fearful. There was something different about her…
"Didn’t Cole heal me?" There was a silence as many expressions flicker across Kasey’s deathly pale face.
And then I realized what was different.
Kasey’s eyes were now a swirling silver grey.
