The Unspoken Word

We are so used to spoken words and hearing our own voices. So much so, words have begun to fail us. It is far better to speak through deed and thought and put the preserved energy to better use.
Words fail sometimes to relate to the heart,
To speak of thought that springs from prayer,
To tell of the agony of moving far apart,
To indicate the rung of life or steep stair.

T'was better that I used the depth of eye,
To catch a wandering verse of beauty,
To feel the agony behind a brethren's cry,
And reach out to do my only duty.

I need not words or an utterance new,
I need not speak for all to turn and hear,
I need not clamor for expression's pew,
Or voice for air of indifference to clear.

I have a voice that no ear need catch,
I have so many ways to express and say,
To everyone I connect and safely latch,
And pray as I pass from night to day.
