The Truth Chapter 2

Chapter two

I walked into the office a little after 8:30. I went and sat behind the registration desk, I looked at the files our first appointment was at 8:40. Then I heard the bells on the door and looked up Dr. Sylvia Mc'Anton walked in.
"Good morning." I said
She looked over at me " Good morning." She replied
"Um... Doctor your first appointment is at 8:40." I said
"Okay, oh yes that reminds me Robyn can you write in my calendar that I have to meet my oldest son for lunch at 12:30."

I looked down at the calendar " Doctor, I don't think that is going to work unless you can get these people in and out of here in 10 minutes."
"Call me Sylvia. Okay well here can you call my son and tell him to meet me here at 12:30, I am pretty sure his number is in my phone book."
"Sure no problem but I would just like to ask, what is your son's name. I mean I don't want to call him and be like hello this is...."
"Yeah I understand, I understand, his name is Justin. He should be under Justin in the phone book, I have a section for my kids in the front so it shouldn't be hard to find."
"Okay no problem." I said
"Well I better go get ready for the 8:40 appointment." She said walking into her office.

I picked up Dr. Mc'Anton's phone book and looked up her son. He was under the section she said he would be, with her other kids. I looked up the number and then dialed it. It rang three times till somebody finally answered
"Hello." Said a man
"Yeah hi, is this Justin Mc'Anton."
"Yea it is, who is this."
"This is Robyn, I work at your mother's office."
"Oh yes, I am supposed to go to lunch with her, hey can you just remind her for me."
"Well actually that was why I was calling, your mom wants to know if you can come to the office around 12:30 because she doesn't know if she can make lunch then because she has an appointment."

"Yea sure, I will be there around 12:30. And tell her that if I am a little late I am sorry, she tends to over react about when we are late."
"Oh okay, I will be sure to tell her." I said laughing; I knew exactly what it felt like to worry for your kids. I did it all the time with Grace. I almost had a panic attack last year when her bus was 6 minutes late.
"Well I am sure you have to go so tell my mom I will try to make it there at exactly 12:30, if I can." He said
"Okay," I said laughing," I will, goodbye."
"Bye." He said hanging up.

The second I put the phone down the 8:40 appointment walked in. It was a young mother, but still probably older than me, with a little girl in her arms.
"Hello." I said to the family, then looked down at the appointment book and said, " You must be Lila."
She nodded her head " Can you say hi" he mother cooed
"And how old are Lila?" I asked
She held up two fingers
"Wow, really, you are so big." I said then I directed my attention back to the mother. "Okay well if you can just fill out this information and then someone will call you back."

"Okay, thanks." she said.
"Robyn can you get them into a room, please" Sylvia called from her office "Jenny isn't here yet."
"Yea, sure." I said, I opened the door to the waiting room and said, " You can come in now."
They stood up and I directed them to the second room.
"Just wait here and I will be in, in a second."
I came back a with a clipboard with Lila's information
"Okay so your last check up was in July. Okay, so are we here for a check up, or is she sick?"
"Well actually, it was just supposed to be a check up but she has been complaining that her throat is hurting and she has a runny nose."

"Okay well I am pretty sure that it is just her sinus and the seasons changing it is probably just a little cold, but I will tell the doctor." I looked down at the clipboard " okay so let's start. Lila can I have you come over here on the bed please.
Her mom placed her on the bed and she looked at me "This may be a little cold." I told her before I placed the stethoscope on her chest. "Okay can you breath deep for me." she took a deep breath then let it go I told her to do that several times then I looked in her ears and mouth. "Well she seems to have a little cold but I think that's all it is."
"Okay." the mother said
"I will have to doctor come in shortly."
The mother nodded as I walked out of the room. I walked passed Sylvia's office telling her that lila was ready to see her.

Around 12:15 I started to get hungry so I reached into my purse when my cell phone rang.
"Hello?''
"Hi Robyn." My brother said
"Hi, Jon." I said
" I just wanted to make sure that Nikki was supposed to be there at 12:30."
"Yes but can you have her go a little earlier, just in case."
"Yes of course."
"You guys are still staying for dinner right?"
"Yeah, hey do you need me to get anything."
"No it's fine, I have to run to the store quick anyway but otherwise I am good I have drinks and dinner is planned."

"Okay, you sure though."
"I am positive." I said "So is that it."
"Well someone at the shop is asking for you."
"Who?" I asked I had stopped working at that shop when my father owned it, who would be looking for me there."
"Jared." He said
"What!?!" I asked confused
"Yeah I know."
"I thought he moved away right after high school. I thought he would never come back." I finally said

"None of us thought he was coming back but he asked if he could see you he wants to make it up to you. And he said he heard some rumors and just wants to make sure that they are not true."
"What are the rumors about?" I asked
"Grace." Was all he said?
"Are you serious?"
"Why would I joke around?"
"Well tell him I never want to see him again."
"Robyn you can't do that."
"Why?"
"Because, he is going to find out about her and anyway she needs a dad figure."
"I am fine on my own."
"Yeah but she will never have a normal life if you don't give her a father."
"Well for now you can be the father figure."
"Robyn."
"I don't want to talk to him at least not today." I said firmly letting him know this was the end of the discussion. "Good-Bye."

"See you later."
When I hung up the phone I grabbed my granola bar and was just about to take a bite when the 12:20 appointment walks in. Great.
"Hello you must be the William's."
"Yes we are." The mother said
"Okay so we are doing a check up for Elijah, Hannah, and Travis. Am I correct?"
"Yes you are."
"Okay good, so I am just going to have fill out this sheet. For the home information sheet you have three you can just fill out one."
"Okay."

She took a seat at one of the waiting room seats. While the kids played with the puzzles and books we had laid out on the tables.
I walked to the back and as I passed Salvia's office I said "12:20 has arrived."
"Okay, good." She said "I can take them right now."
"Okay I will call them back." I said heading back to the front. When I got there a man had walked in " I will help you in a second," I said to the man "You guys can go back now the doctor is ready to see you." I said to the mother. Her kids were still busy playing.
"Okay." I said taking a seat behind the desk. "How can I help you."
"I am here to go to lunch with my mother."
"Oh right, I totally forgot." When the room went slight my stomach growled. I held my stomach

"Little Hungry?'' he asked
"Guess so." I said reaching for my granola bar. Just when I grabbed my granola bar the phone rang. I groaned and answered it.
"Doctor Mc'Anton's office, how can I help you."
"Yeah, hi, this is Jen Miller. My son has a fever and is very droopy and tired he won't sleep for more than 10 minutes before waking up crying and coughing, I was wondering when she could get me in." the women panted. Must be her first child.
I got up and knocked on the door " Sylvia, a woman named Jen Miller is on the phone her son has a fever and she would like to know what time she can come in."

"He only has a fever?" she asked.
"No she mentioned, a lot of other things to and she sounds on the verge of crying."
"Okay, okay, well tell her to come in at 12:50. I should be done with these guys and oh can you call my son and tell him I can't meet him."
"He is here." I said
"Oh," she said " can you give me a minute." she said to the mother of the patients
The mother nodded as we headed out of the room.
"Justin." She said when she saw him
"Hi mom." He said
"Honey, listen I have an emergency call so I won't be able to make lunch," she paused then looked at me " but if you want you can take Robyn."

"No," I protested "I am not even hungry."
"That's a lie." Justin said "You just said you were."
"Perfect." Sylvia said walking away.
I picked up the phone and said to the women "You can come around 12:45. okay."
"Okay." She said.
"Bye." I said and hung up. I looked up he was waiting for me. "Hold on a sec." I said putting my granola bar back in my purse. I picked up my purse and grabbed my sweater.
