The Truth About Tungsten Carbide Rings!
What everyone should know about when it comes to tungsten carbide rings.
Maybe you have had some of the same questions that I have had as I have shopped around and see so many advertisements for tungsten carbide rings. Why do they seem to be so popular? Why are they all over the place from online sellers to malls to shopping centers and kiosks? What makes them so popular - especially among men?
One thing I found out is that this style is made from what has been called the world’s strongest metal. Why does this matter? These are durable - stronger than almost any other style of ring anywhere on the market! And they are virtually scratch-proof. They have an extremely heavy feel to them which makes them super popular with men, giving them a rugged personality and eye-catching luster. The more I searched into this fashion, frankly the more impressed I became.
I learned something interesting about the patent process regarding this metal. Apparently there is a patent owner of tungsten carbide rings – the owner is Triton (Goldman Company) and their patent is TC-850. They initiated a 30-step finishing process using the processing of tungsten with carbon, firing the blank in an oven at temperatures approaching 2400 degrees F. When they first created these remarkable rings, they filed for a number of patents and were awarded 7 in total.
Since that time a number of different companies, suppliers, and manufacturers have "knock-off" this patented design. China is a big offender as well as a number of US companies. A lawsuit was begun a number of years ago and the Triton Collection prevailed and was awarded damages and the right to collect royalties from those companies who were in violation of their patents. Future lawsuits are imminent.
One company, mensringstore was awarded the rights to sell this Collection online. They are a licensed seller and carry virtually the entire collection including rings made from a variety of different materials. I even spoke with one source that suggested the lawsuit will eventually involve the "purchaser" not just the seller – this made me want to be very careful to buy from the right source so as not to violate the patent.
Are they popular with women? Well one answer lies in the fact that when I searched sizes for this collection at the online seller mentioned above, I found women sizes starting with size 4! Apparently a number of couples are buying his and her varieties with this very popular new fashion!
It just might pay to check them out but remember that for the most part, online sellers (avoiding the high rent and employee and insurance costs) sell them less expensively than do malls, kiosks and shopping centers. Good luck and happy shopping!
