The Trap

This is one of the stories I had to write for one of my coursework.. What grade do u think ill get? Hope you like :) vee.
"This is not happening to me" Avery muttered to herself as she walked in a foot of snow. I had no warm clothing to protect me from the continuous attacks of the cold wind, my stomach was doing back flips, and worst of all, I was lost. I felt like I was stuck in a maze, which kept going in circles and had no exist.
After another twenty minutes of mindless walking, I sighed and searched my bag for my phone, flipping it open I let out another disappointed sigh. No signal. Mum will be worried. I was supposed to be home two hours ago. "Where the hell are you stuck Avery"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile Josh was walking down Greenway Street. "I cannot believe I haven't found a single prey tonight." It is strange. This place is usually swarming with preys of all kinds. Making my way home I am sure that Julia is going to kill me. I was turning into the alleyway, when I suddenly stopped.
I saw her.
She is standing in the middle of the street carrying a heavy looking handbag, it looked designer. She might be rich. "Don't jump to conclusions Josh, remember what happened last time." I thought as I reminded myself of last time. Finally I decided to go make small talk with her before taking the next step.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I heard him before he even said anything. I heard his shallow breathing on the back of my neck. I was sucking in my air to start screaming when he said "Lost?" on the most angelic voice I'd ever heard. Maybe he is trying to help me. I shouldn't jump to conclusions all the time. Sometimes it might not be healthy.
I spun around to look at a handsome face with sea like eyes. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. "Yes, and I am desperate for help. Do you know your way around here?" I asked, not sure of how much I should trust this stranger.
"Yes of course, I live here" he replied nonchalantly.
"Okay, umm...well I'm trying to get to a taxi stand or something. Do you think you can help me?"
"Sure"
I wasn't sure of what to do at this point. Should I follow him? What if it is a trap? But what if he's the only ray of hope I have of getting out of this maze? What would happen if I didn't get home? "Oh stop it Avery! You are taking this overboard. The guy is trying to help you". I stopped debating in my mind and decided to follow him. Nothing worse could happen to me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could tell she was debating with herself, but I could also tell that she was going to follow me. I did feel sorry for her. She is going to fall into a trap, she wasn't going to like, but oh well, today is not her day.
Finally disturbing my thoughts, she said "Alright, but don't try anything, I know self defense." I chuckled silently, knowing that if I decided to do something to her, she wouldn't be able to stop me.
After a while I launched into my mission; I started making small talk.
"So what your name?" I asked her, my voice guarded, unsure of how she was going to react.
Surprisingly she replied without hesitation "Avery, what's yours?"
"Josh" I replied, smiling knowing that this mission was going to go somewhere. I asked her basic questions, like where she lived, who she lived with etc. After I had gathered enough information, I let her babble on about her family. A smile crossed my face as I smelled success in the air. We had reached the alleyway and I abruptly cut into whatever she was about to say.
"Turn here"
We went into the alleyway and I saw fear take over Avery's face. Her palms were starting to sweat... I could feel her questioning looks on the side of my face but I kept looking forward.
"Wait here" I said. It is five minutes to midnight. Julia will be here soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Uh-oh. This is not going well." Avery thought as she fidgeted with her fingers. Why did Josh bring me here? This place it deserted. There was no way in hell that a taxi was going to come here.
"Why are we here?" I asked, fear clearing taking over my voice.
"Just wait here!" he said, arrogance taking over his voice
"WHY?" I nearly screamed. Suddenly he took out a sleek looking gun and pointed it to my head.
"Just WAIT" he said, grinding his teeth.

Surprisingly I was calm. I knew what to do. With quick movements I pushed the gun from my head and put him in a head lock. Josh was recovering from the sudden attack. He obviously hadn't expected it. I knew it wouldn't last long and he was stronger than me. So I snatched the gun from his hands and point it at his head. "Let me go, or I will kill you." I said as bravely as I could.
"Ha! You're not strong enough" he replied. He was trying to make a move, I was starting to panic. Maybe he is right. Maybe I am not strong enough.
I saw a car pull up at the end of the alleyway, I was about to scream for help when Josh's voice startled me "You're dead for sure now, Avery"
What was he talking about? I had the gun not him.

My eyes adjusted and I saw my anonymous helper. The person was carrying a gun.
"Good timing Julia" Josh said in a calm voice
Who was Julia? How did Josh know her?
My hands started sweating; I was looking back and forth from Josh to Julia. Julia's gun was aimed at me, and, mine was aimed at Josh. So I did what they did in movies.
"Shoot me and he dies" I said putting on a brave face.

Josh let out a snort of laughter.
Then it happened too fast.
I felt the bullet leave Julia's gun. The adrenaline kicked in and I pulled the trigger, the bullet hit Josh's head as I felt the impact of the Julia's bullet in the middle of my stomach.
I collapsed onto the floor. I heard faint voices.
"She fell for the trap" a female voice said, probably Julia.
"She was really stupid. She thought I carried a real gun around" Josh replied bleakly.
My eyes closed and the next thing I saw were the gates of heaven.
