Chapter 3: Stranded

I awoke with Danny staring at me, he looked like he was about to cry and so did Hayley. "W-what h-happened?" I stuttered. "The bus fell on its side" Danny told me. "H-how’s everyone? Did anyone g-get badly hurt?" Hayley shook her head.

"Where’s the other two b-buses?" I asked. Danny shrugged. They helped me stand-up. "Ouch" I said looking at my right hand. There was a big cut going from my index finger to my wrist. Blood streamed out. I saw that one or two of the bus’ glass windows were broken. I was probably cut by the glass. Mr Herron was running around to each pupil checking if they were okay. He came to us. "Here’s a bandage, cover your cut before it gets infected." He passed me a soft green handkerchief. I wrapped it around my wound, it was wide enough to cover the whole cut. Danny and Hayley both didn’t get badly hurt. How? Maybe because I was sitting at the edge of the seat, I probably fell of my seat first, then Danny and Hayley. "Dan did you hurt yourself?" I asked. "Yip, I cut my leg, kind of like you did but on my leg and not my hand." He joked. Danny is the joker type and even though we are probably in the worst situation he’ll make a lame joke or something. "Hayl, did you hurt yourself?" "Sore ankle, nothing else." She told me. "Good" I said. "Attention, attention!

Who is injured and I haven’t seen?" Mr Herron told the pupils. "Please come to me now if you haven’t been seen." About ten pupils went. Some had blood dripping down their heads. I looked away I couldn’t bear to see this. 15 minutes later Mr Herron announced that he was going to look for help. He disappeared into the mist, and never came back. All the pupils stood together. Some pupils cried, some yelled for help, that didn’t help. Hayley jumped on an old tree stump in front of the grade 8’s. "Okay guys I’ve got an idea! Now I came late to the buses, which means that I wasn’t checked for phones. I’ve got my phone here." Everyone suddenly started talking loudly. I jumped on the stump next to Hayley. "Guys we must be quiet, you don’t know what’s in these woods. Let Hayley phone." Everyone was silent after that. Hayley dialed 911. She held the phone to her ear. There was no signal. Hayley frowned at me, and began to cry. We were alone, no teachers, no cell phones, no signal…
