The Surprising Adventures Of Jimmy D. Terrible Part 13
The irony of love and death: the last installment of the series =[
The next mornings hangover didn't hurt as much as Jimmy's conscience did, he knew there was no logical reason for his outrageous outbreak but yet he felt better. Maybe it was the hallucinogenic epiphany where his soul felt more at ease knowing he was as vulnerable to love as everyone else.
At work everything went well, it was a slow day but his head wasn't even there all day long. He picked up his knife roll and tucked it under his left armpit as his left hand pulled out the lighter he stole off the pudgy guy on the train. He couldn't help but remember the look of terror in his eyes, that's something Jimmy loved to see not the fear but the expression of true emotions like rose the night before because that's when everyone is at the epitome of vulnerability, in a world full of plastic smiles and rhetorical bullshit there was still something that imitation could never get right and that's true emotion in a response to certain events. Maybe this is why Jimmy blew up on rose, Because he felt so uncomfortable and vulnerable that he reacted only out of fear and pain. With this in mind he set out looking for rose to see if he could talk some sense into her but the opportunity was looking pretty bleak because of how big of an ass he had been before. All that ran through Jimmy's mind were the moments he wanted to yell at Sophie for being so fake and annoying but he could never bring himself to do it maybe this is why he just never attempted to do anything with her, because he knew he had fallen for someone who had vacated Sophie's body ages ago the girl he know now belonged to the ages.
A few days passed and there was no sign of Rose, she never returned his calls or ever signed on to her AIM account. Jimmy lost a little bit of hope wondering if his chance at happiness had once again flown out the window. He had his weekend bags packed, he was going to long beach because he missed his friends and he also needed to see if his feelings for Sophie were truly gone. He wrote a note for Rose in case she were to show up letting her know he had taken a weekend trip to visit his friends and to visit Ishii's grave. He called for Georgie to pick him up and also left a copy of the note with him with direct instructions to give it to her if he saw her on the street. On the plane ride over he began to write down on a piece of napkin a story that would eventually turn into what you read today. With this simple notion of reckless expression he thought he would be better able to explain to rose why he was the way he was. You must be wondering who I am, well there are a few of us who helped interpret this scrambled mess and pieced places together where the gaps were found. The People responsible for this are all of Jimmy's friends and loved ones. The reason we wrote this and he didn't was because Jimmy never made it to Long Beach the taxi he was riding crashed on its way to the airport with an 18 wheeler. He went to the hospital in critical condition. The cold hospital was no place for a daydreamer like Jimmy he was alone and scared.
Rose rushed to his side and sat there for two days as he drifted in and out of consciousness, Jimmy must have known that time was fleeting, he asked her to bring his guitar during one of the days he felt better so he can finally serenade her as he had promised. She did as he asked and brought his tattered guitar and asked her to pass him his suitcase so he can hand her something, he pulled out his favorite record of all time, "Sometime around midnight" but it was odd-shaped as if something was hidden in there just as he began to play the monitors began to tick and speed up, the heartbeats were slowing but the sounds of the machines began to accelerate and so did Rose's heartbeat she dropped the album and ran to his side and began to yell for help Jimmy's eyes empty and hollow slowly moved to the back of his head and his body began to convulse. BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
"oh that stupid fucking alarm clock is going to be the death of me! I curse the day I bought this fucking mickey mouse clock" Is all rose could think of as she heard it maybe it was all a really bad dream maybe she'd wake up and see him getting ready for work cursing the day he chose this career. The doctors rushed in and began to revive him with the screams and tears she could only see that he was finally at peace the difibulator shook him around his hair flew like ribbons in the summer breeze and his body lay motionless one of the nurses pulled the frantic rose out of the room she stood by the door yelling and cursing at Jimmy
"Baby, BABY!!! Please.... don't leave me I can't do this on my own!, quit being so fucking selfish! I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO FIRST....I was supposed to go..." She just wanted to be in there with him she wanted to be the last person he felt before he went, she just wanted to hold him but the doctors kept her at bay, Maybe it was all the Disney movies she'd seen when she was younger or all the Sheakspear tragedies she'd read she broke through the wall of nurses and doctors and collapsed on top of the vacant body of a man she was truly in love with she kissed him and she could have sworn he kissed her back but no, that wasn't the case Jimmy Escobar had now joined his friend and mentor in the unknown. As rose sat outside weeping and clutching her stomach she felt an arm around her, it was Mrs. Escobar with ribbons of tears going down her cheeks. She handed rose the album she dropped, tucked away inside was a paper envelope with a note and something hard as she opened it an engagement ring fell on her lap. She grasped it and held it to her chest as she began to cry even harder Mrs. Escobar grabbed the note and began to read it to rose
"Sweetie,
If you are reading then that means my weak ass body didn't make it through, I hope you like the serenade I gave you (if I even made it that long) The doctors told me I didn't have many chances of surviving so I had my mom bring me my notebook and the album so I can write you this, Look I know might have been an ass in the past but I never meant to hurt you I hope you know that I loved you more than anything and the reason I know this is cause you were the only one to make me think twice about things I did and how it could affect my future with you , I even asked my mom for her ring so I can give it to you but I guess I never got to put it on your finger...There is one song I want you to listen to "die-hard movie girl" its my favorite and well it explains exactly how I was as a man and well how I could never be the good guy but I would die trying...Rose De Cordoba, I will always love you and I hope you know this I already miss you and I hope you have a long and happy life because you deserve this and much, much more.
Eternally yours,
Jimmy Francisco Escobar."
The next few days were a mess with getting the funeral ready and letting everyone know of the true events of Jimmy D. Terrible as he would have wanted us to have written his name. We now stand in front of you reading this story not as a eulogy but as a reflection on what Jimmy wanted the most and he finally had even if he didn't have it for long he still cherished every single moment that he had and that's something we should all take with us, Life is short and sweet so Live Laugh and Love every second of it cause you only have one. Jimmy had one more thing to say to everyone who showed up "I love you all, BITCHES!!!"
P.S. This is Mike here, after we gave the eulogy we began the procession of the viewing with jimmy's favorite songs playing and like he had asked no one cried which was a testament to everyone's emotional psyche but the reason for this Post Statement is because I saw something you should all of seen Rose made her way with a smile and a picture in her hand that she placed inside, actually it was two as she says, one was the first picture they took at the Farmers Market when The luxury sweets were playing, taped to the back was the ultra sound of their son Jimmy Jr. who is now 1 and has as much energy as Jimmy did when he was cooking. I just want to say I miss you buddy and I hope Jr. and Rose miss you as much as we all do...
