The Story of the Storyteller
Inspired by the novel Eva Luna. The dramatic monologue is in the point of view of Eva Luna. Hopefully you will want to read the book after reading this~
She is a girl we both know, Rolf darling,
Who lived an adventure so daring.
Born in a laboratory of a home,
Where everywhere she would roam.
A childhood heaven full of mother's stories,
Later to relate from wonderful memories.
Until six she would stay by mother's side,
Floor sweeping, washing, happily abide.
This game of House, she did play it daily,
Till her mother's passing, then she acted numbly.
Alone in this world, her madrina took charge,
To care for her as promised, until old age.
Her first matron a moron, filled with attitude and rage.
This she set straight, removing matron's hair like a mage.
That it was accomplished, she knew not how,
Her place now set, she walked defiantly out.
By chance she meets a love of many years,
A boy who later, will cause others many fears.
No darling, it's Naranjo she met then,
Our friend Naranjo, a guerrilla, the determined man.
He found her two exotic friends,
One La Senora, the other Melesio,
With whom friendship will forever stand,
A friendship that will last till the end.
Joyous moments they lived,
She was happy as a bird.
She was fed with golden grains,
In return she made paper cranes.
It carried dreams and fantasies,
Created love and new dignities.
Yet her blissful days were short lived,
Forced separations seem always the end.
For beggar, thief, she then became,
As Senora, Melesio, lost their fame.
A dark period of life she endured,
At its finish, a fatherly figure approached.
Though with defection, he was amiable and kind,
A true and honest, business man.
He took care of her, her life again complete,
She thanked, loved him, heart honey sweet.
But Fate and Destiny played with her once more,
She had to leave again, not wanting to, heart torn.
Fatherly figure turned lover, a crime was committed,
If she didn't leave, inevitable danger awaited.
Crying silently, she set out for the city,
Caught in a riot, she saw an angelic lady.
It was Melesio, her long parted friend.
Both their stories were told, tears were shed.
Melesio was now a woman, a famous actress.
Melesio provided for her, lifting problems and stress.
The rest of the story you know,
Indeed, I have told you before.
She later met Rolf, a handsome man,
With whom she fell in love, now by her side, he stands.
