All of the states have lots to offer and amazing sites to see. However, New York has perhaps one of the most famous landmarks in all of the United States and that is the Statue of Liberty. This monument stands tall and is the symbol of our nation’s freedom. Because of this every American visiting New York should make an attempt to see her up close and in person.

The statue sites in the New York harbor on an island of 12 acres reserved just for her. The statue was given to the United States as a gift by France and since then this statue has welcomed millions of immigrants and Americans to New York. It is not only a beautiful statue that draws people to her, but also what she stands for. Democracy, freedom, and liberty are what the statue embodies and why so many people have an emotional experience when they see the statue in person.

If you are interested in visiting the statue then you will need to get a time pass. This is the system that is used to control the tourist traffic to the site. Basically, the time pass allows you to visit the pedestal of the statue, which is the observation level and the museum gallery. You cannot access the statue any further than the pedestal. If you enter the statue you will be subjected to a security screen. You will receive your time pass for free from the ferry company where you bought a ferry ticket. Keep in mind that during the summer months and holidays you may need to order your time passes in advance because this are the periods with the most demand. Passes are available on a first come first serve basis so it is recommended to get one early. You will not need to get a time pass if you are just visiting the Ellis Island immigration museum or the Liberty Island grounds.
