The Spring Break Story (3)
Sorry for the delay…I went away for the weekend and couldn't bring my laptop.
THE NEXT MORNING: BEFORE BREAKFAST
After the hot chocolate last night I had fallen asleep quickly and into a peaceful sleep, so I was fully rested and ready to go. Unluckily for me the slopes didn’t open until tomorrow so I was stuck in the house for the day, or so I thought. As soon as I was ready I raced down the stairs surprisingly hungry. Grabbing the toaster out of the cabinet and the bagels out of the pantry I started my breakfast. Popping the bagels in and turning the heat up to 4 I walked to the fridge to get the butter and milk. When I turned around I almost gasped. Of all people, it was Riley. "Morning." He grumbled groggily. "Hey sleepy head, what’s up?" I asked trying to sound normal. "At this time and moment I’m not exactly sure." He replied smiling. "Well, "I said gesturing to the coffee that someone had started earlier "that might help." "I sure hope so because Ava and I have a surprise for you and I want to be wide awake." He responded laughing. "Oh really what type of surprise?" I questioned as I poured myself a glass of milk. "If you knew it wouldn’t be a surprise!" he said shocked. "Please, I begged, "just on hint!". Just then my bagels popped scaring both of us. "Oh all right, all I’m telling you is that it involves snow!" he gave in. "Snow, everything around here involves snow!" I half yelled half laughed as I buttered my bagel and proceeded to eat. "Well then you’ll have to wait and find out." He said smugly as he exited the room. Once I finished my breakfast I went into the living room and sat down, waiting for Ava to get ready. I spotted an Us Weekly magazine that I hadn’t read before and started reading. Half an hour later Ava and Riley were yelling "Come on Lisabeth it’s time to go!" I walked outside and saw nothing. "Ava, Riley if this is a joke it’s so not funny!" I yelled. "It’s no joke, just be patient and follow us." Riley smiled. "Umm okay." I replied unsure. "We’ve worked on this for a while so prepare for amazement!" he grinned. What I saw was amazing. A hut not 5 feet from the road but cleverly disguised so cars couldn’t see it. "Now Lisabeth I want you to sit and watch our plan at work!" Ava said. So I sat at the back of the hut and watched in amazement. Riley and Ava expertly molded snow balls and waited. For what? You may be asking yourself. A car of course, we were throwing snowballs at cars. As the first victim passed by bam, slosh, and screech was all you could hear. We waited in silence for the car to clear the bend then, "yeah!, all right Lisabeth you give it a try." Riley said uncertain. "Kay!" I replied fairly confident. I eyed my next target, the passengers unaware of their messy fate. "BOOM!" I hit the car straight in the driver windshield. Silence then, "Amazing Lisabeth, I guess you have a hidden talent for snow balling cars!" Ava exclaimed, very surprised. This "game" went on until a very stupid Riley hit a cop car straight on. We sat in silence waiting for the cop to round the bend then, "Run for the house I bet he’s gonna come back!" Riley screeched making a break for the house. Ava and I followed in a quick pursuit. Sure enough the cop did come back, except he missed the hideout by about 20 ft or so. Ha, stupid cop.
LATER THAT DAY: AFTER LUNCH
"Oh my god I’m so wet and tired I think I’m gonna drop dead right here on this floor!" Ava exclaimed. "Well my suggestion is you take a nap so as to save you from dropping dead right here on this floor." I laughed. "I like the way you think!" she said as she walked up the stairs groggily. "Sometimes." I grinned shaking my head. Riley laughed in agreement. "How about you pick out a game while I defrost in a hot shower?" I questioned unsure of his reaction. "I guess that would be all right although I get first shower tonight!" he exclaimed. "Deal." I agreed racing upstairs. I started the shower on full blast and knowing it would heat fast I got in quickly. Soon enough I was dressed and ready to play. "Well what are we playing?" I asked walking up behind him. "We are playing twister and I am gonna kick your butt!" he laughed. "Oh yeah I wouldn’t be so sure about that!" I exclaimed. Soon we were in a full fledge battle against each other. Soon our feet then arms became a tangled mess and not one of us dare move for fear of falling. My position soon became very uncomfortable as I had a hand or foot on each color. Shortly after Riley’s arm was twined around my leg and my arm was around his leg. The next spin was fatal, not one of us dare move. "Okay here’s then plan, we move at the same time, like a three legged except it’s with our whole body!" he schemed. "We’ll look what we have here a sticky situation seems to be on our hands!" a fresh out of bed Ava said, smiling. "We can get through this we just have to work together and not mess up!" I smirked. "Hey, are you suggesting that I’m gonna lose!" riley whined. "I dunno, let’s find out." I challenged. We slowly moved our hands and feet simultaneously, until." Whoa, watch out!" Riley yelled as his left hand slipped on the plastic mat and we both came crashing down. It was a mess of arms, legs and bodies. "Snap, flash!" I heard a camera take a picture. "Ahhhhhh, the flash, my eyes." I cried out, seeing nothing but bright colors. "Mahwah, I finally got a picture!" Ava exclaimed victoriously. She smiled down on me looking quite proud of herself. After I was declared Queen of Twister, we proceeded to clean up our mess and get ready for dinner.
IN LISABETH’S ROOM: BEFORE DINNER
As I proceeded to get ready for dinner I heard I soft knock on my door. "Come in!" I called. "Hey Lisabeth here’s your picture." She said holding out her cameras memory stick and a converter. "What’s this?" I questioned. "You so didn’t forget?, she asked " you know about the blog you said you would post about our vacation for all who were unfortunately not invited, well I have your first picture!" she said. It then dawned on me that I promised my friend back home that I would create a blog all about the trip for their viewing pleasure. "Okay give it here." I said reaching for the card and loading into my laptop. "Oh and thanks." I called after her as she left the room. I logged onto MySpace and loaded the picture into my profile. ‘Okay.’ I posted. ‘Here’s what you guys asked for.’ ‘This is Riley and me after playing a game of twister. Ha ha ha I won!!! Tomorrow we are going snowboarding, wish us luck!’ I logged off my computer and lay down on my bed exhausted. Awhile later I was barley aware of someone entering my room then leaving shortly thereafter.
2:15 A.M.
I groaned and rolled over to look at my alarm clock. By the feel of things I had slept through dinner. Yep, it was 2:15 a.m. and I was hungry. I silently crept down the hallway and made my way into the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator door and examined the contents. "Lisabeth is that you?" I heard a tired voice question. I gasped and turned around. "Oh it’s you." I exclaimed feeling relived. But the picture before me was quite funny. Riley in all but athletic shorts his hair a mess. This is definitely something you don’t see every day. "Why are you up so late?" I asked curious. "I couldn’t sleep and heard some noise down stairs and came to investigate, and you." He explained. "Well I sleep through dinner and at this moment are willing to eat anything." I replied continuing to search the contents of the fridge. "I believe what you are looking for is in the fridge outside." he said grinning. "You seriously don’t think I’m gonna go outside in like -10 degrees!" I said shocked. "Okay, fine but no cold pizza!" he said serenely. Those two words cold and pizza caught my attention. In my opinion that is undisputedly the best food in the entire world, next comes cookie dough. "Okay fine but if I freeze I put you in charge of defrosting me!" I reasoned. "Okay, deal." He said, and we shook on it. I raced into the backyard as quick as I could, and ripped open the fridge door. I made my choice quickly and grabbed two of the boxes, one holding cheese the other supreme. Quickly as I had come out I raced back in doors, feet undoubtedly frozen, hands shaking, teeth chattering. I looked around the room surprised to see Riley sprawled out on the couch snuggled under a blanket. "Come ‘ere." he said sitting up and holding his arms out. I slowly walked over to the couch and snuggled close into that spot on a boy that you fit just right into. Chowing down on the cold pizza I relaxed and let myself be warmed by his body heat. Before I knew it we were both fast asleep arms wrapped around each other.
