Going to the grocery store can become one of your biggest expenses, especially if you have big family. Even if you are there to buy the essentials you can easily end up spending a $100 or each and every week. Especially now with the economy in shambles and jobs on the line, it is ever so important to try and save money where you can. There are a few ways to reduce that every growing grocery bill.

One of the best ways to save some money on groceries is to sign up for one the stores frequent shopper cards. This method costs you nothing, and the store has discounts on many items when purchased on your frequent shopper card. You can also receive rewards through this card after you hit certain milestones.

Always look in the paper for coupons. It might be something your grandmother does, but she knows what she is doing. Go through the paper and look for coupons from stores that you shop from and see what they are offering. You will not realize how many items you purchase regularly that will be on sale. Keep a good book of coupons and have them handy next time you head to the store.

Another way we end up spending so much money is buying with out a list. We just go to the store and start looking for things to buy, instead of going off a list and not buying anything extra. Before you go to the store make a list of what you are looking to purchase and stick to it. This should help cut out some extra items that can push you over your budget.
