The Smart Shopper: Espresso Machine vs. Coffee Machine

Choosing between an espresso machine and a coffee machine can be a difficult choice. Follow some of the tips below to make it easier.
One of the most confusing things to do is shop for coffee machines or equipment. There a ton of brands out there and each brand seems to have a different line of this or that. To make it even harder you have to first decide what you are looking at. Do you want and espresso machine or a coffee machine. While they both produce a form of coffee there is a dramatic difference in the two.

To point out the major difference between the two types of machines you look at the end product. An espresso machine produces a more potent form of coffee called an espresso shot. And on the other hand a coffee maker makes the more mild black coffee.

How the machines look is also quiet different. They can each come in different styles, but for the main part a coffee machine has a filter, water tank, and pot. An espresso machine is much more complex. An espresso machine contains a boiler, filtration system, and has some form of steam driven device.

Each machine also uses a different form of ground coffee for its drink. A coffee machine uses standard ground coffee that is popular in most retail stores. An espresso machine uses espresso ground coffee. The espresso ground coffee is much stronger than traditional coffee.

You also need to look into ease of use for each machine. Most everyone can make a pot of coffee, but not everyone can become a coffee barista and make a shot of espresso. If you are look for ease of use you may want to stick with a coffee machine rather than the more difficult espresso machine.

And finally the price difference between the coffee machine and espresso machine. While both machines can vary in price from cheap to extremely expensive there is an average cost for both. On average the coffee machine is going to be much cheaper than the average espresso machine.

All these comparisons above are a great way to look at what will work best for you and your home.
