Since she’s done it before, however, Winslet decided to keep the third wedding a secret, and it wasn’t until Wednesday that news spread of the wedding between Winslet and Ned Rocknroll. Yes, that is his legal name, though he wasn’t born with it. With the third marriage now set to unfold, fans of the "Titanic" actress may be wondering just who this new guy is. MTV News did an interview and found out quite a bit about the man.
First off, the question of his name. Ned Rocknroll was actually born Ned Abel Smith. In 2008 he legally changed his name and his ex-wife, Eliza Pearson, noted in an interview after their breakup in 2011, "The whole thing was about having fun with your name. He thought we all took ourselves too seriously so it was about reacting against it."
Oh, and Rocknroll is really wealthy, as well. He is the nephew of Richard Branson, the billionaire businessman who founded the Virgin Group and, according to Forbes, is the fourth-richest man in the UK. Rocknroll is an executive for Virgin Galactic, a space flight venture that is, obviously, tied to his uncle. And, of course, Rocknroll has been married before. Eliza Pearson and Winslet’s new guy were married for two years. Pearson is a British socialite and noted, "What drew me to Ned was that he was unusual." He sounds, generally, like a man who’s never had to work too much and likes to have fun. Nothing wrong with that, though it is a bit of a surprise for the generally cerebral Winslet.
