The sinking of the Titanic, Is that a symbol of your life?
Running trough life is like a journey on the Titanic…we all hope for the best…but eventually encounter the unexpected. Who can guaranty a safe journey, a place in the Lifeboat? Jesus can, He is the LIFE itself.
On April 10, 1912 thousands of people were saying good bye to the more than 2200 passengers of the ship, in its first journey. Nobody suspected that after just three days all the newspapers of the world will publish the tragic news about this ship’s sinking.
The ship was at about 400 marine leagues away from the shore, when desperate radio signals were intercepted from another ship which warned about the presence of icebergs. John Phillips, the man who got the radio signal sent the following answer to the other ship: "Man, be quiet! I am busy!". Face to face with death, a few hours later he will desperately call to God.
At 23:40, an iceberg hit the ship, while in the saloons people were drinking and dancing. Now Titanic called for help to the ship near him.
The few rescue boats were very soon filled with women and children. I bet many would have given a million dollars for one single place in one of the rescue boats. But, money couldn’t get them anything now.
While the Titanic was sinking the orchestra played: "Closer, my God, to Thee…". Many sang that song, some were praying… some were cursing…
In 2 hours and 40 minutes the ship was gone. Carpathia, the ship that warned Titanic the first time, managed to save 700 people, but more than 1500 died that night.
Titanic left the port as a symbol of human power and life without God, but, eventually, it became a metaphor of death. Without knowing it, we are all navigating in a Titanic. Confident in ourselves, without any worries, and with many plans in our minds, we are concerned about our well-being. God is sending us warnings but we say: "Be quiet, leave me alone!"
But in the end, the inevitable comes, a catastrophe. However, we blame fate that was against us. Nevertheless, the Word of God tells us that pride comes before a fall.
History confirms what the Bible is teaching us, that there is no security and safety for the man without God.
Even if you don’t like it, you are a passenger of Titanic. This whole earth is a big Titanic, which goes inevitably towards a big catastrophe. The Word of God tells us this.
I don’t’ want to scare you, but tell you that there still is a rescue boat. But this boat is individual, not collective. You can be saved before this planet will experience God’s wrath.
Today you are still waiting. Tomorrow you might want to pay all you have for a place, but it will be too late.
Titanic had three classes: at the lowest one, the 3rd one, were the emigrants that hoped to find a new and better life in America. The 2nd class was taken by the businessmen, and at the 1st class were some very important personalities at that time. After Titanic sank, the company that built Titanic placed some boards at the main door. On the first one was written: "Known and saved", and on the second one: "Known and lost". At the end, it didn’t matter that somebody was rich or poor, emigrant or business man. All it counted was if the man was saved or lost.
In which class are you right now? I tell you: It doesn’t matter, and you will realize that later. Do you want to be from the group that traveled in 1st class, or in the group called: "Known and saved"?
"…For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape" (1 Thessalonians 5,2)
On that day, do you still believe you will escape???
The only way out is Jesus: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". John 14:6
