The Single Parent Blues - Overcoming the Stress of Being a Single Parent

Being a single parent can be extremely challenging. Here are some tips on how to stay sane as a single parent and also on how to be the best possible parent for your child.
Are you a single parent? If you’re like me, it probably seems impossible be the parent you want to be. Parenting is no easy task and trying to do it by yourself seems doubly hard. There are many different difficulties associated with single parenting. A lot of the time if you are a single parent you have to work long hours to support your kid or kids, leaving no extra time for the quality time you want to spend with your child. Coming home after a long day at work doesn’t always leave most people in the best of moods therefore, you may not have the best of attitudes when you get home.

There are many different discouraging points about being a single parent that could very easily get a person down. Something to remember is that being a single parent can be difficult at times but it is very possible to raise your child to be a responsible adult and many studies show there are lots of people who do it.

I think one of the most important things is to be loving and open-minded but also you have to know when to say "NO" and to keep they’re best interest at heart. What more can a child ask for than for their Mother or Father to protect, love, and guide them the best that they can?

Just being aware of what your child is feeling and giving the best love and care that is possible is what is important. Taking time for you is also very important, everyone needs time for themselves. Take a day out of the week or an hour out of each day to clear your mind and do something you enjoy. Keeping a positive outlook and staying encouraged is important.

Studies show that 16 million children in the U.S. live in single parent homes. The number of single parent homes has doubled in the past 25 years so keep your head up you are not the only one and sometimes children are better off with just one parent.
