The Shot You Never Took - Chapter 37
Read and find out!
*3 Weeks Later*
"I'm going to run to the store, I'll be back in a few minutes." Marley spoke when she poked her head into the living room. Shane and I are sitting here Playing video games while Kendra is at a friend's house, so I'm guessing Marley feels kind of left out... But we offered her a controller.
Pausing the game I stood up and walked into the small entry way where Marley stood looking as beautiful as ever. "Ok, well Shane has a date tonight so he'll be gone and Kendra's spending one more night at her friends..." I whispered softly, hinting to Marley that we haven't really been alone in about a week. Shane has been staying with us because some psycho chick is apparently looking for him so he needed a place to hide out.
Marley smiled at me and kissed my cheek before replying, "Mmm sounds good, do you want me to make dinner?" She offered so of course I said yes. What man, especially athletes, says no to food and a night with his wife? Not me for sure.

"So Shane... What time are you leaving exactly?" I asked as we stood in the kitchen and Marley was putting groceries away. She gave me a 'don't be rude' kind of look and carried one bag towards the stairs. "I'm going to take a shower really quick, Shane ignore him, he's grumpy today." Marley smiled, still holding the bag at her side and turned to sprint up the stairs.
"I'm leaving at 5, and I can stay out late if you want me to." He smirked and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Please do," I laughed and he turned towards the door. "Well, I'm going to run to the gym, wanna come?" He asked as he slipped his shoes off.
"Nah man, you go. I need to call my agent, and Marley and I need to figure out Kendra's school stuff. See ya later." I added as he stepped outside and I started up the stairs. I can hear the water running in the bathroom, so I guess Marley's already in there... I guess I can shave while I'm waiting for her. "Babe I'm going to shave ok?" I asked as I opened the door.
"Ok," she answered, although her voice was muffled by water. Stepping over to the sink, I start to open the cabinet to get my razor, but a box sitting on the counter distracts me. "Hey, what's this?" I asked aloud, even though Marley will have no idea what I'm talking about.
"What's what?" She asked, sticking her head out of the shower. "Oh..." She whispered when she saw the box in my hand, "Um you know, a pregnancy test." She tried to say casually and duck her head back into the shower.
I stepped closer to the shower to say, "Marley," I paused as she turned off the shower. I watched as she wrapped herself in the towel. She looked at me with that kind of 'I'm sorry' look. "Do you think you're pregnant?" I inquired, pointing out the elephant in the room.
She nodded slowly and added, "Yeah, I think so... I just didn't want to get you excited if I wasn't." She whispered and tried to step past me. "Really! Well what are you waiting for? Let's do the test!" I urged and handed her the box.

"You could've told me! This is great! Babe this time I'll be here for you the whole time! I love you!" I smiled and hugged Marley tightly.
"Are you sure you're happy about this? I mean we just got married..." Marley explained and turned away from me a little bit. "Yes! I couldn't be happier! I want us to be the perfect family! And we will be! Why wouldn't I be happy?"
Marley shrugged slightly before answering, "I don't know... I just thought you'd be mad," she murmured. With that, she turned out of the past me and left the bathroom.
Why would she think I'd be mad? I love her. Following her footsteps, I wound up in the kitchen to see Marley staring into the refrigerator but obviously not paying attention to what she saw. That's when she slammed the refrigerator door shut and ran into my arms. "I'm sorry!" She sobbed into my shoulder, "I'm so stupid! When I found out I was pregnant with Kendra I did the same thing, and now I know you wouldn't have cared, you just want us to be a family, and I almost screwed all of it up!" She babbled almost incoherently. So I responded the only way I know how, just holding her. "It's ok, now is all that matters." I comforted.

Pulling away from my arms, Marley snuffled once and wiped off her face quietly. "I love you." She smiled softly at me.
"You're the only girl I've ever really been in love with." I smiled back and kissed her softly, "We're going to be together forever; I promise." I whispered in her ear. Now, everything really is perfect. I have my wife, who's having our baby, and my daughter is perfect too, and I have my dream job, and Marley's going to figure out what she wants to do. It's great.
The end.
