The Secrets Of Celestial Academy 1
From the author of Moonlight Curtain. Welcome To England. and Converses and Rose Colored Dreams. Heres a new kind of story. its a lil dif. then most! comment!
Just one more minute. One more torturous minute that seemed a billion years from now. I stared at the clock's arms as they slowly twitched around its face. As soon as that long hand touches the 12, it would be summer. My heart beat in sync with the clocks dull ticking that seemed to be growing louder and louder. Finally, with one final tick, the clock hit 12. Every kid in class stood up and cheered except me, I was already out of the room and halfway down the hall rushing to my locker. I grab my backpack but before I can push all of my junk into it I'm tackled in a big hug.
"Aren't you excited!?" my best friend in the whole world Harmony shrieked. Her straight blonde streamed down her shoulders and back gorgeously. "In a matter of hours we'll be at Celestial Academy!"
"Yes, let’s hope our disguises last that long." I murmured under my breath. I looked down and my arms were already slowly returning their natural color of ivory instead of the tan skin I was given as a disguise.
"No that can't happen. We have plenty of time before they ware off." Harmony said.
"OH ya?" I showed her the ivory patch on my arm.
"Oh boy..." Harmony said, her Irish accent that was supposed to be disguised as an American one leaked through. She slapped a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide. Just then a peice of her pin straight blonde hair made a 'bong!' noise as it curled up and turned its natural shade of red. "We better get out of here." She whispered so no one heard her accent. We grabbed our bags and quickly dodged all of the goodbye hugs. I jumped in Harmony's car and she stepped on the gas fast, speeding our way to my house.
"That was way to close of a call! This year we are talking to the headmaster about getting bloody reasonable disguises!" Harmony ranted her Irish accent I hadn't heard in a year so it sounded refreshing.
"Ya, I bet other kids had trouble with theirs, we'll start a petition or something. Are your bags packed?" I asked her. I started picking at my chipped black nail polish absentmindedly.
"Yep. My mum dropped them off at your house."
"Cool. We better leave pretty soon if we want to get there before our disguises run out. Cause as soon as those are completely gone, so is our cover and you and I will be hunted down like animals." I sighed.
"You need to relax!" Harmony giggled. "You’re going to give yourself an alsar!"
"You can relax. I can’t. You aren't being searched for in every country in the world." I mumbled. I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Oh Nerita" Harmony said sympathetically.
"Don't call me that!" I covered my ears. That was my birth name, I hated it.
"Why not? I don't see why you dislike your name, is pretty!!! Nerr-ee-ta!" She said pronouncing it very over the top just to annoy me.
"What about YOUR given name HARMONIA!" I teased back.
Harmony fell silent. "That’s different."
I chuckled "No its not!"
"Yes it is! My name sounds like a grandma name. Yours is pretty, it means 'of the sea' mine means 'unity and concord.'"
"We should blame our dads. It's because of them we have these over the top Greek names." I sighed.
We finally got to my house and we threw our bags into the back of my car. I hugged my family goodbye and before I knew it we were on the road to our new school.
We arrived deep in the forest at a huge machine. In front was a giant twisting, creepy looking gate. Celestial Academy was written in big letter on a sign above it. Harmony's green eyes met mine.
"Uh oh..." Harmony said.
"What?"
"Look!" Harmony pulled her visor down and flipped open the mirror and moved it so I could see myself. My brown contacts were literally melting, revealing my eyes. The upper half of my eye was a green color and then slowly its fades into a midnight blue at the bottom. I gasped.
"We better get in those gates, and fast!" We got out of the car and I rang the valley parking bell.
"Nerita..." A voice whispered from the surround woods.
"Oh boy..." Harmony whispered. We both froze in our tracks.
"Nerrita." The voice whispered again. We turned slowly to see a dark figure standing between to trees farther in the woods. Compared to the trees, this thing had to be big! Its head was practically in the leaves. I could see its read eyes glowing. Suddenly the giant figure started running at us. We screamed, grabbed our suitcases and hurled them over the gate and started to climb. Harmony got over and I was just about to jump onto the ground when something grabbed my leg. I didn't want to look behind me because I could tell from Harmony's pale face and wide eyes, whatever had my leg was not a pretty sight.
I started kicking the leg that the figure had a hold of in all directions till I felt my heel connect with its face. The thing growled and fell backwards. With an "oof!" I fell on the ground on the safe side of the fence.
"Larson!" I yelled. Within seconds a horse galloped from behind the manshion, but this was no regular horse. The top of it, where the neck should be, was the upper body of a man. It wasn't a horse at all actually, I was a Centaur. The centaur named Larson grabbed his archers bow and shot the monster. By the time I looked to see the creature, it was a pile of dust being blown away in the wind.
"Nerrita are you ok?" Larson said grabbing my hand and using his powerful horse legs to hoist me to my feet.
"I've been here for 2 minutes and already someone or something has tried to kill me, this looks to be a promising summer." I replied out of breath. Larson chuckled and took our bags. "Come on in, your in the same rooms as every year."
I nodded and ran inside my home away from home. The mansion was huge. The first room I walked into, all of it was black and white marble with pillars around the room. Covering the walls were huge elegant paintings of all the Greek gods. I was drawn to the last painting on the left wall. A man with dark wavy hair down to his shoulders. His eyes matched mine, green at the top fading into blue at the bottom. His nose was straight like mine. His skin ivory and smooth, he was muscular and his cheekbones high. I had the same color hair as him, raven black but when hit with the light had a blue tint to it. It was easy to tell the man could get girls, he was handsome. Poseidon, the Greek god of the Sea is who the painting was of, and he was also my father.
I am a demi-god. My mom was mortal, my dad, and the god of the Sea. I sighed and look into the painting eyes. I was the only child to Poseidon. All the other gods had at least 4-7 kids that they knew off and who attended Celestial Academy in the summer except Zeus and Hades who had NO children. Harmony was the daughter of Ares, god of War. His picture was right next to my fathers. He had olive toned skin just like Harmony, their green eyes, red hair, and freckles matched. You could tell easily they were Irish. Harmony had 3 half brothers and sisters. None of the kids in the Academy are 100% related. The only relation was there Greek God parent, their other parent were never the same person.
I went down the row of paintings. Aphrodite, goddess of Love, she was gorgeous in every way, as were her 9 kids, but not getting their mothers kindly side, they were all pretty rude except 2. They all had shocking pinkish eyes.
Apollo, god of Music. He has 4 kids here who are all, of course, musically gifted and can play any instrument you give them. They all had ice blue eyes that looked almost white.
Artemis, god of hunting. He had 7 kids who all have at least 3 dear heads in there room (I know gross how can you sleep with those things staring at you!) These guys all had brown eyes
Athena, goddess of Wisdom and Warfare. She had 13 kids and all of them had the same silver hair and black eyes. They were very good at planning and school work.
Dionysus, god of Wine and Festivals. He had the most kids (surprise surprise) which were 24. They all were CRAZY partiers and could control how drunk they get no matter how much wine or beer intake (cool huh?) All his kids were pretty friendly and had brown hair and PURPLE eyes.
Hera, goddess of marriage had 2 kids who were both very sweet and kind. They had dark midnight blue eyes.
Next was Hermes, god of Flight and Thieves. All of his 5 children had mint green eyes and had the amazing power of flight! (Im jealous to!)
And last of all of Hestia, goddess of Hearth and Home. All of these 7 kids battled extreme fits of home sickness and had silver eyes.
"Hey there gills," A voice whispered in my ears. I turned around to see Griffin, son of the Music god Apollo.
"Oh, so my nickname has changed?"
"Well, I was thinking in Algebra yesterday that you recently found out you could breath underwater as well as control water so yes, you've upgraded from Octopus Brain to Gills. Catchy, doncha you think?" I giggled and enveloped my friend in a hug.
"How've you been?" I asked him.
"Bored. It's hard hanging with humans ya know?"
"Oh I know, but i passed my Greek mythology class with flying colors," I chuckled.
"Anyone see the resemblance with you and old Barnical Bill?" Griffin said gesturing to my father's painting.
I laughed "no, thank the gods."
"So where is that little red headed ball of energy you have for a friend?"
"Right here!" Harmony said running down the spiraling staircase. Her hair was now completely the natural red curly mess. "Hey there Griffin!" She squeeled and was quickly enveloped in a hug by him.
Just then the Aphrodite spawn walked in. There were 6 girls an 3 boys. All had pale blonde curly hair and the unmistakeable pink eyes. The boys were some of the most handsome i've ever seen, the girls, most beautiful. They had this air to them, it smelled of roses and sunshine. They walked past us and a breeze hit me, carrying their unique and beautiful scent.
The leader of the pack is Amora. Shes tall, and unbelievably gorgeous. A mirror image of her mother, but yet her mother is still more beautiful. She smirked at us and kept walking, all of them so graceful. All of the demi-gods filed into the Academy. Larson galloped onto the top stair and shouted in his deep loud voice "everyone report to the dining room for a special announcement."
We all took our seats, me sitting next to Harmony. The headmaster was sat at the head of the extremely long table. His name is Chiron, trainer of the gods. "Welcome ladies and gentleman to another wonderful summer of training and fun. We have some new students this year. Hades revield to us 5 kids he has. Id like to introduce the first, Nyx. A girl about my age stepped into the room. She had pale skin and black hair, her eyes were a scary crimson red. Her eyes flashed to me, she looked scared. Well, I was to my first summer. I smiled and she smiled back shyly, I got up and walked over to her.
"Hi im Nerrita," I said extending my hand.
"Hi, Nyx." she replied, her hand was warm and tiny. Her voice, deep and husky, but in a good way.
"We have a spot open by us if you'd like to sit by me and my friend Harmony." She nodded eagerly and I lead her over to the open seat on the otherside of me. Harmony introduced herself and we sat silently waiting for the other children to be introduced.
"This, is Donella," Chiron introduced. A girl, who was very tall, stepped out. Her skin was honey colored, her hair was long and raven black with big curls. She was beautiful. I saw Amora's eyes narrow at the sight of the beautiful demi-god.
"This, Is Donovan." Chiron said and a tall muscular boy stepped out. He had long black hair down to his shoulders. He was scary looking.
"Call me Don." His deep voice boomed. he quickly took a seat.
"And here is Colby," and a boy with dyed green spiky walked out. He looked cocky and I was right.
"Now now ladies don't all jump up at once," He chuckled. I rolled my eyes, and his sister Nyx laughed.
"He gets that reaction a lot." She chuckled.
"And last but trully not least, Aderick." a boy stepped around the corner and I let out an unvoluntary gasp. Nyx smiled knowingly at me. The boy standing there was to gorgeous to be true. His hair was the blackest I've ever seen. He had it a little long in the front so he had bangs that covered one of his blood red eyes, the edges of the bangs were dyed bright red. All of the girls in the room, stared at him. His skin was the same ivory as mine. His cheek bones were set high, he was tall and muscled, but not TO muscley like his brother Don. He was...perfect.
My stomach churned when I saw the only seat left was next to Amora. He sat down not even caring to look at her. Her eyes were filled to the brim with shock. He was the first boy who hadn't flirted with her the moment they met her. Even Griffin is guilty of wanting her!
"Um..Hi Im Amora." I heard her honey filled voice say to him.
"Cool." Is all he said back. His voice gave me goosebumps. It was deep and husky. She held out her hand for him to shake it. Looking discusted he grabbed her by the fingertips and shook it for a half a second, then quickly took his hand away. She looked appsolutely dumb-founded.
"Cool tattoo!" She said looking at a snake rapped around his upper arm.
"Thanks."
Slowly she reached out to touch the snake. All she had to do is touch him and shed send a love potion into his blood stream. I saw it in slow motion. As soon as her perfectly manicured and rested on his fore-arm a knot formed in my stomach and every glass and pitcher of water burst, sending water everywhere.
Everyone shrieked and layed their accusing eyes on me.
"Um...sorry." I whispered and sunk low into my chair.
Everyone started drying themselves off except for Aderick. He stared at me with his red eyes. I could feel myself blush.
"Your Poseidon's kid aren't ya." Nyx said, drying off her black skirt.
"Yaaa. Im so sorry, sometimes if I let my emotions go people get drenched."
"Nah, it's cool. I wish I had that trick." She chuckled.
"That was AWESOME!" Colby said, his green hair was drenched, washing it of its jell making the green mop fall into his eyes.
I giggled shyly. I could still feel Aderick's eyes staring at me. "Um..Im sorry I got you all wet." I told him, wondering if he was mad.
"No no its cool, maybe I needed a shower anyway." He chuckled. I smiled and wiped my arms off with a towel. I could see Amora who was clearly furious that Aderick actually said a whole sentence to me.
This made a small smirk play on my lips as i looked at her.
"Aren't you excited!?" my best friend in the whole world Harmony shrieked. Her straight blonde streamed down her shoulders and back gorgeously. "In a matter of hours we'll be at Celestial Academy!"
