The Search for the Best Cheap Double Mattress
A double mattress - also known as a full mattress - is an ideal choice for two people.
After living in a cramped dorm room, you get become too old for a twin. But if you can't afford to make the leap from a twin to a Queen, go halfway and choose double. Yes, I'm talking about beds and mattresses.
Twin mattresses are too short for grown adults. A queen could be too large for some and a king too lonely to sleep on by yourself. Also called a full mattress, a double mattress is a good choice for couples who don't have a wide enough space to accommodate a queen or king size bed. A standard double mattress measures 54" x 75", only 15 inches wider than a twin. Often, hotel rooms have double beds in standard rooms.
When buying mattresses for your bed, size is as important as material. Comfort should be your clinching factor in the decision. So when shopping for cheap double mattress, head these tips:
Match it to the size of your bed. Don't buy a cheap double mattress for a twin bed, a queen for a double bed and vice versa. You don't want to fall off on your bed or roll to the floor while you're dreaming. This is likely to happen if you are sleeping on mismatched accommodation. Yeah, a cheap double mattress might be less costly than a standard twin when you went to the store for some bedding. But if you buy an inappropriate one, you'd be likely to spend on unexpected costs - possibly medical care for insomnia or injury due to disturbed sleep.
Consider material. Don't buy anything too soft or too hard; those are too uncomfortable. You want something that's soft enough to soothe your tired body but hard enough to support your frame. If you're going for the revolutionary memory foam mattresses, pick the medium to high density foam at least three inches deep. It may not exactly be a cheap double mattress option but comfort-wise, it has gotten excellent reviews.
Think of the sleeper. Is it for your child's bed or someone who may have allergies to certain things? Some people are allergic to latex, rubber, wool and other materials used in mattresses. If the sleeper in question suffers from asthma, it's best not to risk triggering symptoms by buying a hypoallergenic mattress. These beddings are not exactly cheap if you're thinking about nominal dollar prices. But when your idea of a cheap double mattress is reasonably priced for what it affords you, one made with hypoallergenic material would be a sensible choice.
Cheap Means Total Dollar Value
The idea behind quality and price is to strike a balance between how much you pay and the value you get. There are plenty of really cheap double mattresses out there, some selling for under $300 dollars. But if it's not of good quality, you'll end up spending more in the long run. A $1200 mattress that lasts you at least five years is ultimately cheaper than a $300 mattress you need to replace in six months. The rule of thumb when buying a cheap double mattress is to narrow your selection to the mid-range.
