The Sea of Understanding

Lately I've been drowning in the sea of understanding
Just looking for the reason and perhaps a bit of light
While I wander here alone and broken along this faded track
Smiling when I think of you, lighting up the ruthless black.

It seems whenever you're on my mind, I can see the light
But once I think of being trapped it disappears from my sight
So I just think about you once again, and then it reappears
Giving me the peace I long for and swallowing my fears.

But I wonder why I'm stuck in this horrid nightmare
Oh well... why do I care? I'll just think about you some more.
You're the answer to all my problems, my sweet sedative
...The answer.

I can feel the air awakening my lungs,
Oh how they so badly craved for it,
The light that shoots through all this hate, as far as it'd permit
I can't believe I was really so blind, as to not see it before
A smile engraved upon my face as I slowly wash ashore.
