The Pursuit of Health, Wealth and Happiness - My Journey

There is always some expert who tells us how to improve our lives. What happens if one of us regular people sets a few goals and uses some of the easier to grasp concepts in order to make more lasting changes.
We live in an immediate gratification society today. Anything that I do has to make me thin, rich, healthy, or solve my problem in 30 days or less. I'm probably being generous by saying anyone would give it up to 30 days. I was taught that most things that are worthwhile take time and commitment. If you are someone who was not taught this concept then your re-education begins here. Life will be a truly frustrating experience if you expect everything to happen fast. Sometimes, we achieve our desired result faster than we expect. The fact that this is always possible definitely makes life more exciting and unpredictable.

I am writing this series of articles because I know that there are a lot of people struggling out there. You are struggling to lose weight. You are struggling to make money online. You are struggling to separate the products that really work from the hype. You can achieve anything if you are moving towards it every minute of every day. Like you, I have goals. I want better health, more money, and more enjoyment out of life. I'm using my trials and tribulations as a case study that will hopefully benefit other people. As we make this journey together, you will see me apply certain strategies and make course corrections based upon the results I'm seeing.

Happiness

My goals for 2008 :
1. Achieve a blood pressure of 120 / 70 without medication.
2. A weight of 185 lbs end of day ( highest ) weight.
3. Cut my consumer debt by 50% or more
4. Have 100 or more customers for my online business

All you need is a list of goals like this. Give yourself a year and track your progress in increments of at least 2 weeks. Progress needs to be measured frequently enough to remain engaged, but the intervals must be wide enough to have a chance to see measurable results and be encouraged by them. Make the first ninety days a ramp up period where the expectations will be fairly low. Anything that is accomplished will just be considered a better start.

Health

My weight fluctuated between 221 lbs the course of a day. Now I have lowered my weight to a range of 211 to 215. I have to give a range because your weight tends to be lower in the morning than it is during the evening based upon water consumed and other factors. If I maintain this modest progress, I will have lost 36 lbs by January of next year. My best blood pressure reading prior to taking my medication was 148 / 77. Now it is 146 / 80. I take my medicine ever day at 830 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. As you can see, I have to be patient with this, and I'm going to be completely honest.

Wealth

Thirty five days ago, I began my journey to better health and more wealth. I have been paid twice and was able to contribute 10% of my paycheck to savings each time. What is more significant is that I have not needed to pull any money out of my savings. This has been the thing that has undermined my previous savings attempts. My online business had 4 customers and now it has 8 customers. One of the strengths of the company I joined is a media acquisition program where the affiliates can acquire customers gathered by the company's infomercials. As it turns out, the affiliates are sharing in the cost of those infomercials, which allows the company to recoup its costs faster and run more broadcasts. I continue to workout 6 out of every seven days for at least an hour a day. What is important is that I'm tracking my progress and making modest improvements.
