The Piano Girl

Remember Vanessa Carlton? Her hit song "A Thousand Miles" was released back in 2002. She is one of our underrated artists. Dedication: To Vanessa Carlton, the piano girl.
The Piano Girl
Somewhere beyond that starry sky
There lives a girl with a magic eye
With which she can see, in the ordinary,
A touch of the magical and fantasy.

She has a talent for writing songs
Which draw larger, ever larger throngs
For a singular reason: They can hold, in a phrase,
The emotion and aura of average days.

Her fingers tickle the ivory
And she sings of white houses, and 'your hands on me,'
And the images seen by those magical eyes,
Through the piano and voice, they mesmerize.

So hail to the chief, fans, hail to the chief,
Hail to he raven-haired palace thief,
And may the last line of this ode be:
"Blessed be Vanessa C."
