The Peaceful Walk
A story about a peaceful walk which is dangerous in an unknown way

The trees whisper and sigh in the breeze as if they are telling you some indecipherable secret which only you are supposed to know. The lush green grass and golden leaves draw you in to their realm. You cannot simply pass by; you must enter the world of color and life that stands before you without hesitance or resistance.
Well that's how I felt when I first set eyes on Maple Street, when I first strolled down its endless walkway of leaves. What a mistake that was.
I was on my way to school and I was already running late. What a dreadful day this was going to be. I had already had to skip breakfast because my alarm didn't go off, broken my shoelace which meant a D2, and forgotten to comb my hair which meant a D3! Could this day get any worse?! YES, was the answer. Yes with a capital Y, and it all started when I passed by Maple Street, or should I say, tried to pass by Maple Street.
Its golden leafed trees called to me, they whispered and sighed. They wanted me to pass under them without a care. Step into their cool shade for just a minute. Finally, I gave in.
I was never the same again when I walked out of Maple Street. No one recognized me. Even my family and friends, from a distance, thought that I was a stranger in town. There were rumors circulating for weeks, even my parents talked to our neighbors about me over the fence, glancing over to check that I wasn't listening. Everywhere I went people gave me looks of rejection and spitefulness.
Finally, I decided I couldn't stand it any more. I had to go back to my place of solitude. My place of contentment, satisfaction and delight, a place where I would be free of all the dismayed looks and hideous rumors. A place where I could be happy. Yes, that was when I decided that I would go back to Maple Street forever...
It all started with that peaceful street. The one with the numerous trees that are almost sagging under the weight of the countless autumn leaves. You could be out walking on a sweltering summer's day and as soon as you stroll under the shelter of the trees, you are swamped with a wave of coolness and shade that relieves you instantly from the heat.
The trees whisper and sigh in the breeze as if they are telling you some indecipherable secret which only you are supposed to know. The lush green grass and golden leaves draw you in to their realm. You cannot simply just pass by; you must enter the world of color and life that stands before you without hesitance or resistance.
