The Parting
Friendships do fall.
Here we are
We sit and laugh
Looking far
Into the past.
Glance around
At your old friends
Above the ground
But falling in.
It all shows
A peek inside
To find the souls
Behind their eyes.
You feel sad
You don't know why
The friends you had
All have to die.
Sit and wait
Under the sky
Take the bait
You won't survive.
At your sides
You feel it fade
The love there was
It now degrades.
In your eyes
The stings begin
You want to cry
But won't give in.
Then they leave
You're left to wonder
On this eve
Of your blunder.
You wish them well
As you too turn
To leave this hell
You will not burn.
All along
Your glad again
To see the wrong
That was your friends.
We sit and laugh
Looking far
Into the past.
Glance around
At your old friends
Above the ground
But falling in.
It all shows
A peek inside
To find the souls
