The Optimum Time to Visit Phuket

Thinking of a visit to Phuket? You should be! It's one of the most exciting Thai islands around.
It is always beneficial to know at what time of the year, one should visit Phuket. Basically, the deciding time to visit this island depends on the wish of the traveler. It depends on whether you want a cloistered beach; or get caught in the midst of a pompous festival; or experience an intense water fight with the locals.

Probably, the best time for paying a visit Phuket is Thai New Year, also known as Songkran. Once it was a traditional celebration of pouring water on each other. Now, this celebration has contorted into a severe water fight. All the Thailand residents and the islander of Phuket give their all at this time.

It is better to stay in house, if you are hydrophobic. April 13-15th is the time of Songkran, with the 15th being the day of water fight. People crowded the streets with water guns, hose pipes and buckets. Some even ride on trucks with one or two barrels of water. In Patong, the madness runs the most and often late in the night. Every individual, irrespective of gender, age and nationality join this festival. It is one of the most exciting things to be experiences, if one visits Phuket.

Another time to visit Phuket is during the Vegetarian Festival. It is an experience of a lifetime. Beguiled men and women feel no pain walking down the roads with the cheeks pierced with spears, needles, knives and other sharp objects. This festival is not for the dainty person, and it takes place around October.

During this festival, no restaurants serve non-vegetarian menus. A visit to the local Chinese temples for seeing the ceremonies and other interesting rituals is worth seeing. A map shall suffice for that. On the final day, the festival takes vibrancy in Saphan Hin, where people line up the streets and throw firecrackers on to the road, with the Maa song taking its final stroll through Phuket.

The Chinese New Year also attracts visitors, especially those individuals, who like Chinese food. Although not profoundly colorful in Bangkok, the festival can still be enjoyed there. The festival happens around February. Visit Patong, during the celebration of New Year eve. A brilliant display of fireworks can be enjoyed from the beach. Most people assemble there prior to midnight for seeing it. Street sellers often sell a number of fireworks.
