Chapter 6
~That Special Weekend~

Ding dong. Drake rang the doorbell on Madeline's front door. The door opened and Madeline walked out. "Hey, baby." Drake said and took her hand. Madeline slightly smiled and walked to the car. Madeline had had a rough day yesterday thinking about what she should do. Hopefully the party would take her minds off things. They drove to Brittany's house and found a parking space. "There sure are a lot of people!" Drake exclaimed. "Yeah." Madeline quietly said. They got out of the car and walked to the door which was surprisingly already opened. They walked in and found a big house decorated with streamers and balloons. Brittany strutted over to them and said, "Glad you could make it." "Happy birthday." Madeline said and smiled. "Thanks." Brittany said. "So, where's my present???" She asked with excited eyes. Madeline bit her lower lip as Drake handed Brittany a wrapped rectangle box. Brittany tore up the wrapping paper in less than five seconds and screamed. "OH MY GOSHH!!!" She screamed as people ran into the front door. "YOU GOT ME A NEW CAMERA?!?!" She runs off without saying thanks and the rest followed her.

Charlotte was at home, bored to death. Usually on Saturdays, she would be hanging out at the mall with Ally and Madeline but since they weren't friends anymore, they didn't go. "Charlotte." Her mother said as she entered her room. "Why aren't you out with Madeline and Ally?" She asked. Charlotte stayed silent for a while deciding whether she should tell her mother or not. "Charlotte, do you want to talk about it? Is it because I lost my job or something else?" Her mother asked.

Finally, Charlotte decided to tell her mother. She told her everything that happened, everything since the first day. Her mother listened patiently. When Charlotte was done telling everything, she was on the edge of bursting into tears but managed to keep them in. "I think... That you should apologize to Madeline. I'm sure she will forgive you. And for Ally... You should tell Brittany how you are feeling about the way she's taunting you. Maybe she will understand and start becoming your friend." Charlotte's mother said and left the room. Charlotte thought about the words her mother had said and decided she will call Madeline and apologize.

"Hello?" Madeline said. "Hi Madeline." Charlotte shyly said. The line was quiet until Madeline finally said, "Charlotte..." Once again it was quiet. "I told you that we shouldn't talk to each other anymore." Madeline said. "Wait, I wanted to apologi-" Madeline hung up. "She hung up...On me." Charlotte thought.

"Good job." Brittany said to Madeline. "You don't want to be friends with someone who would betray you like that." Everyone at Brittany's birthday party was sitting in a circle playing truth or dare until Madeline's cell phone rang. Brittany had told Madeline to hang up on Charlotte. "Yeah." Madeline quietly said. "Okay!" Brittany happily said and spun the bottle. It landed at Drake. "Okay Drake... Truth or dare?" Brittany asked. "Dare." Drake said. "Okay... I dare you to... Kiss Madeline for 10 seconds!" Brittany said and snickered. Everyone turned and looked at Drake and Madeline. Drake looked at Madeline and their eyes locked. He slowly reached over to Madeline and kissed her. Madeline was shocked at first but slowly learned to love it.

The kiss felt like a million hours. "2, 3, 4, 5!" Everyone in the room shouted. Brittany had looked really shocked because it looked so real. "That can't be real. That can't be real..." Brittany kept repeating to herself. "10!" Everyone shouted but they kept kissing. "Oh my god..." Brittany had thought. Finally, they stopped. Drake smiled and spun the bottle. The room was silent. Everyone was shocked. "Wait... Are you guys...Dating" Brittany slowly asked as she was still in shock. Drake looked over at Madeline's shocked face and held her hand. "Yes." He finally said. Everyone in the room gasped then started shouting congrats. Madeline blushed but was glad she got it out.

"Was that your first kiss?" Drake asked Madeline asked they got into the car. The party was a success. When the party was over, everyone returned home with an iPod nano. I guess that's what happens when you go to a rich person's birthday! "Yeah..." Madeline quietly said. Her mind drifted off to when Charlotte said she was going to Brittany's party. Liar. She thought.

The next day, Charlotte decided to go to the public pool for a nice swim. She wasn't a very good swimmer but she loved the feel of waves back and forth against her body. She would just stay in the shallow end. "Mom, I'm going to the pool!" She yelled and left the apartment. She walked to the pool because it wasn't very far from her apartment. She changed and walked onto the pool deck when she heard a snicker from behind and felt a strong push. Charlotte fell into the deep end with a big splash! "Ha. That's what you get for taking our hangout place." Brittany laughed and stalked away with Jessica right behind her.

Charlotte struggled to open her eyes because of everything in her head. She finally floated up to the top but couldn't swim back to the side. She suddenly lost all her breath and fell to the bottom of the pool. She slowly closed her eyes, remembering all the things that happened in her short life until she saw a blur. She tried to figure out who or what the blur was until she blacked out. Drake pulled Charlotte out of the water and started doing compressions. Madeline had watched the whole thing. Finally, the police arrived and Charlotte was half conscious. "You alright?" Drake anxiously asked Charlotte. Charlotte opened her eyes and saw Drake looking at her. She could feel her blood rush up to the face. "What should I say??" Charlotte let out a squeaky moan.

Drake put an arm under her legs and one behind her back and lifted her to a bench. He turned away and began to walk. "Wait!" Charlotte managed to say. Drake turned around and looked. "Yes?" He asked and began to walk over. "What now??" "Ummm, thanks." She quickly said. "No prob." He coolly said and walked away. "Wait!" "What now?" He said and turned around. "There's something I need to tell you." Is this the right time to tell him my feelings? He stood there and stared at her. She started back. Drake tilted his head and asked, "What do you want to tell me?" Charlotte took a deep breath and said, "Drake, I have a crush on you and I just had to get it out."

She smiled for some hope but she didn't notice that Madeline was behind Drake the whole time. I was silent for a while except for the splashing of the water of other swimmers. "Sorry, but I'm with Madeline." Drake finally said. He took Madeline's hand and turned to walk but Madeline didn't budge. She glared at Charlotte. "I thought we were friends." She said. The couple walked away and Charlotte was left at the bench. She slowly got up. I know life isn't going to be easy but, no one told me it would be hard! She started to cry but the tears blended in with the water dripping all over her. Swimmers looked, whispered and laughed when they walked by but she didn't care.
