The Night Scene

An account of the night scene that one could witness in a city...
The Night Scene
On a night when I look out of the window

I see the near dead roads and blinking signals

I find the billboards somber and looking for audience

A kiosk around the corner vends coffee and cigarettes for the night birds on the prowl

Cops on the night beat cruise around in their vehicles dispersing the small and suspicious crowds

The occasional lightning on the sky reflect on the sleeping glass windows

A tired dog sleeps peacefully on the vast pavement

The pavement enjoys its moments of peace after witnessing a million footfalls during the day

A tree or two among the cluster of buildings sway in the mild breeze that sweeps through once in a while

As the time goes by, the night prepares itself to make way for the rising sun

That comes out to unleash a scene in contrast to its predecessor that would soon becomes its successor
