Lunch time again... and it began as it always did. Claire pulled me through the line at the speed of lightening, made both of our salads (there were southwestern ingredients today, yum!), and got us back to the table before the boys were half way through the line.
"So, did you hear about Celeste and Mike?"
"No, do I want to?"
"YES!! Dude, they were drinking in the school parking lot yesterday after school, and the big guys caught them!"
"You're kidding!" Sadly, I was excited about the misfortune of these two.
"Not at all, but they'll be out in 2 weeks."
"Bummer, but that is two weeks less we have to deal with their drama!"
"You got that right, chickadee."
Blake and James were just walking up to the table as Claire finished her sentence.
"What are you two talking about?" James asked.
"Celeste and Mike," I answered
"Oh, those two got busted good!"
"Yeah, I know."

Blake mumbled in a low voice, "Serves them right."
I don't think he wanted me to hear what he said, but I did. "What did you say, Blake?" I asked to make sure I wasn't just hearing things.
"Oh, nothing..."
"OK, if you're sure." I told him
"Yep! Hey, so there's a game later tonight." Blake began
"Yeah, and since you guys are 'off' from cheerleading we want you to come." James continues
Blake was joking around "Maybe you'll be my lucky charm, Ariel." He laughed
"Well I was the first person you met here." I told him.
"No the front desk lady was."
"Oh ok Mr. Smarty, the first STUDENT you met then."
"Yes, you were definitely that."

The rest we just talked about sparatic stuff with the rest of the cheer team and each other. It is always fun having two guys at a table full of the cool cheerleaders... NOT the fake ones. That pesky bell rang once again calling up to our classes, but Blake and I always walked there together. Today Summer stopped me before I walked in, "Save me a seat, I'll be right in." I told Blake before I talked to her. "What's up, little leader?"
"Oh, I just wanted to ask you if you and Blake were dating or something?"
"No, why?"
"Oh, you guys just look at each other like you are... it's like you are trying to cover it up, and I just wanted to know why."
"Oh no, we're not, but I do like him."
"Like who?" Blake popped in.
"Were you listening the whole time?!"
"No, I swear I wasn't."

"OK, I believe you, now go sit down, you are supposed to be saving me a seat!"
"Oh, yeah, well are you going to tell me first?"
"Nope" I smiled.
"Fine" he walked away disappointed, but I'll cheer him up later.
"Anyway, yeah, is that all you needed to know?"

"Yeah, I knew you liked him. I have to go though, before the bell rings again."
"Me too, Bye." I told her. Summer has always been able to read people, but I was apparently obvious. Blake was scribbling on a piece of paper when the bell rang, luckily I just sat down. No tardy for me! Mr. Canson began to teach and Blake slipped me the paper he was writing on. There was something scribbled out that I couldn't read, but the legible part said 'Can you please tell me?' I passed it back saying 'at some point' he didn't pass it back, but he did say "OK, it better be soon." in a low whisper. History ended and no more Blake till the game. How disappointing, I KNOW!! But at least I would get to see him later today. I smiled at the thought as I walked into my next class, the last of the day. Spanish, why does it have to be my last class? I mean I'm always speeding through it, at least recently I have been. Pictures of Blake rushed through my head. When the bell rang the raced faster...

--AT THE GAME DURING HALFTIME---
The game wasn't going well for our team, but it wasn't terrible. The other team was only ahead by one point, but that was a point we didn't have. Claire and I were sitting right by the boy's bench so we could talk to them.
"Hey, guys, we didn't come here to see you lose." Claire proceeded to tell them smiling ear to ear.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. We'll get them don't worry! I mean Blake's lucky charm is here!" James said joking around like earlier today. We laughed and they guys had to get back on the field. "Good Luck!" I shouted after them. Blake turned around and smiled running backwards to where he needed to be. Since Mike was in jail, 'Ha Yes!', James was quarterback for this game, the team wouldn't forfeit it for anything. Claire and I got up to go get nachos from the mini food stand they had set up. Since it's high school, there was only one concession stand, resulting in the mile long line we stood in. We didn't get back to our seats until the last quarter! 20 minutes was a ridiculous amount of time to stand in line, but one of us would run back every once and a while to check the score. When we finally did get back the score was close with our team at 20, and theirs at 21.

The other team had the ball, however; that was a little disappointing. The timer had 20 seconds left... and we had the ball, but there was NO way our team was getting all the way across the field to the touchdown when they weren't even a quarter of the way there! James set the game in motion again after "hike", and threw the ball Shaun (my first ex this year). Poor Shaun wasn't very fast, but was running as fast as he could until, THUMP, tackled. This was our last chance to score with only 9 seconds left on the clock. "Hike" and the game was in motion; Blake jumped up, caught the ball thrown to him, and ran like mad. He somehow dodged 3 guys and kept going, but there were only 4 seconds left. Blake ran as fast as he could to get there, the other team's guy, #34, was right up on him. #34 Jumped, as did Blake, and at 1 second on the clock TOUCHDOWN. The crowd roared and the team all jumped up and ran to Blake. He was carried off the field. Claire and I walked around to where the guys' locker room exited from to greet Blake. As soon as he came out Claire can I clapped, and she gave him a high-five.
"That was amazing!" I told him.
"Thanks. Hmm, maybe you really are my lucky charm." He said giving me a hug.
