The Moon's Sin - The Darkness

"The doctor smiled and pushed his glasses up on his nose , reclining in his chair. " Sin,' he said, his sharp eyes looking at her. " I've decided to give my readers something they would like and Buzzle another chance. Of course this one will be for the people 16( Remember it's only part one so not much romance will be in it. As for the next chapters.... :) ) ENJOY!
Three hours into the next day had already passed and Sin hadn't slept a wink. With her back to the bed she looked up at the ceiling and through the window in the ceiling, at the circular moon. Moonlight splashed back through window and down onto the pillow and her face, washing out all the color of everything except her brown eyes. They seemed restless and tired at the same time as they darted around in her skull. It seemed that no matter how dark and quiet the room was, sleep was going to play coy; keeping up with the same tiresome game it had been playing for the last few months." Ugh, I need some sleep!" She yelled toward the moon. The only response she got was a loud crack as the roof shifted. Sin sighed, exhaling through her nose. She wasn't going to get any sleep for the next three hours or so.....

"So Sin, how are you feeling?" Doctor Trigo asked upon Sin stumbling into the room. She only shook her head, her long braids swinging about her face as she did so. " I haven't been sleeping well. At all." She said, avoiding the doctor's concerned stare. " I can tell." He muttered, digging through a stack of medium-sized slips of paper. Sin sat down in the chair across from his desk, slumping into the comfortable cushions." How many hours of sleep did you get last night, if any?"
"At least... three? I can't remember. The only thing I remember is starring up at the ceiling for almost the whole night."

The doctor shifted in his chair and leveled his gaze with Sin's. She turned away, nervously fiddling with a button on her sweater." When did the problem start?" he finally asked. "A few months ago. I was walking home from the studio when I was just overcome with this....exhaustion. I had been working all day and didn't take any breaks so that's probably why, but I had been doing that all week and I would go home and go straight to sleep. Well after I got home I took a shower and laid down and the next thing I knew I couldn't sleep."

The doctor nodded, taking a slip of paper from the stack and looking over it." I am guessing you are an insomniac."
Sin nodded, having diagnosed herself a month ago with digging around medical websites on the internet.
"I guess I am." she muttered. Dr. Trigo smiled, sliding the paper across his desk toward Sin. She took the paper and looked it over with tired eyes." A prescription for sleeping pills. That's all? I thought I'd have to go through therapy for a few years." she joked. The doctor smiled and pushed his glasses up on his nose, reclining in his chair. " Sin,' he said, his sharp eyes looking at her.
"What?"
"Go home and get some rest."

In a daze, Sin sat at the edge of her bed while looking down at the sleeping pills. She couldn't believe how bulky the orange bottle was." Damn," she said slowly. There wasn't even one of those huge cotton balls they usually put in there. It was just air and that medical smell that comes with narcotics. She sighed and picked up the sweating glass of cold ice-water." Here's to insomnia!" Sin yelled, hurriedly throwing two of the pills into her mouth and downing the water.

Laying back on the pillows, she relaxed and let the enveloping warmth of the thick supple blankets sooth her restless body. The world seemed to fade into a dark void as the sleeping pills took effect. Shadows danced beneath Sin's eyelids as the silence called her name. The dark was so profuse that it seemed to emit waves of energy so strong that Sin couldn't help but let them wash over her body. Comfortable sleep. So this was what she was taking for granted all those nights when she could sleep. So this was the sleep she had been missing
