The Moon Wolf (Why Wolves Howl at the Moon)

English version of a legend I had to write for school. Got the pic from Google ^-^ it's Luna.
Luna was a beautiful wolf. She was the strongest and fiercest of all wolves; she was the pure black, fearless leader of the fiercest pack of all wolves, called simply, the Pack. There was no wolf in the area that didn't fear her. Humans tended to stay away, aware of the gruesome tales of the people that wandered into Pack territory.

But one day, a tribe of dark-skinned humans made camp in a valley that was part of the Pack's territory. Luna went to investigate, and her pack followed closely behind her. The tribe knew about the wolves, and wanted to live in peace with them, but Luna only saw a threat in them, so she ordered her pack to attack.

That night horror-filled screams filled the night, along with the growling of the wolves. They killed any humans they could find, until Luna came upon an old one who made her pause.
"Do not kill me. I have a far too important job." She said in a strong but withered voice.
Luna growled in response.
"If you kill me, you shall be cursed to take over my responsibility as moonlight-bringer." The medicine woman warned, but Luna did not understand her gibberish, and without remorse, Luna continued the attack. She killed the medicine woman coldly, and the Pack returned to their dens to sleep.

The next day, after the sunset, Luna started howling in pain. All the Pack could hear, and they raced to help her. Inside her den, Luna was fading in color, turning white and then becoming translucent. The Pack had no idea what to do, but suddenly, it stopped. Luna got up and walked out into the night. With the Pack watching, she began walking on air, loping towards the full moon. The other wolves tried to follow with no success. When she finally disappeared, the wolves started screaming at the full moon, grieving over their lost leader. Invisible to them, Luna ran to the moon, gathered moonlight, and raced back to spread it onto the earth. She did this until sunrise, and at that time, on her last trip from the moon, she turned whole again. She was the same wolf as before, except that now she was pure white, like the moonlight she brought to soften the darkness.

By day, Luna was the fiercest wolf known to mankind, and by night, she was the moonlight-bringer. Even after her mortal body died, Luna carried the responsibility with her. It is said that if you go into Pack territory at night, you'll be able to see the silhouette of Luna outlined in moonlight, and you will hear the screams of the slaughtered Indians mixed with the still-grieving howls of the wolves.
