The Menagerie of My Life - Chapter 2
Will is ambushed by the two thugs who tried to kidnap him years before.
Two hours later, Will was walking home from school, when a strange feeling came over him. He had known this feeling since he was little. It had warned him before the imminent danger is nearby. Will cautiously scanned his surroundings.
Suddenly, a voice from behind made him freeze in his tracks. "It has been awhile, AH-107. You escaped from us 11 years ago, but now you won't be getting any more extensions!" Will turned, dreading to meet whoever it was.
A man in a black overcoat with a fedora hat, grinned at him evilly. "Your father thought he could protect you from us, but it was only a matter of time before he slipped up!"
Shock surged Will like a lightning bolt. "My father?" He asked, "What do you know about my father?"
"You'll know soon enough!" The man responded.
Something hit Will from behind, causing him to keel over. He saw a 6 feet thug standing to his left with a metal pipe, readying for another swing. Will ducked under the man's swing, aiming a kick at his crotch.
To his chagrin, his foot hit something that felt like a brick wall. Mustering all of his strength together, he was able to push the thug to the floor. A flash of light blinded Will momentarily. The other thug had set off some sort of device. Swearing loudly, Will took off in the direction of a dark alley. He was halfway through the alley when he realized his mistake.
Growing up in this neighborhood, he had become familiar with most of the back alleys and shortcuts.
Unfortunately, the darkness had prevented him from recognizing this particular one until it was too late. This alley was a dead end. With his heart pounding, Will turned to face his pursuers.
The man in the overcoat cast him a smirk. "Come along now, my boy. Time to meet your maker, literally!" The man said, pulling out what looked like a stun gun.
At that moment, something kicked in. Will suddenly felt his senses heighten. His instincts directed him to stare intently at the gun.
The next moment, the two thugs were screaming, bathed in a continuous wave of electricity erupting from the stun gun. Will could only stare as their screams kept changing voices: male to female, growling to screeching.
Burned flesh melted away to reveal exposed wires and metallic endoskeletons.
All of this continued until nothing was left but a few pieces of metal, covered with a dark goo-like substance.
Will stood there in tense silence for several minutes. When the initial shock started to wear off, he picked himself up and began limping away half-heartedly.
