The Many Faces of Wrinkle Creams

Have you ever looked around for a wrinkle cream? Have you ever seen how many different products there are on the market? It seems everywhere I go I see a different pitch, and the one thing they all seem to do is make bold claims. Here is a look at the many faces of wrinkle creams.
I've seen so many different marketing angles for wrinkle creams in my day as a skin care expert, that it just overwhelms me and makes me thing "what will they think of next?" Well, I can't say what they will think of next but I can say that I have seen a lot of angles. Here are a few I will touch on, for some food for thought.

Many wrinkle creams have used fruit extracts in their formulas. While this was very popular for many years in hair care products and even products designed to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells, this is rather new in wrinkle creams. Two ingredients known for their antioxidant properties are the acclaimed acai berry and pomegranate extract. Both fruits do very well at getting their antioxidant properties to the skin and helping the skin rejuvenate and stay hydrated.

Other wrinkle creams go for high-value ingredients that show amazing clinical research. Clinicals are one way to show consumers that their work and effectiveness is documented. When an ingredient shows solid clinicals, it usually perks up the consumers eyes. Some ingredients I have seen in anti aging creams, both for the eyes and the face, include arigirelene and matrixyl. Look around for these ingredients and if you can find a wrinkle cream with them, more power to you.

When you get to the marketing part of wrinkle creams, one can't ignore the billing systems some companies pitch to customers in order to get their information. Of course, the free trial is the first one that comes to mind. A wrinkle cream company puts out a free trial of a product with the hopes the customer likes it, then, signs them up to an auto-ship program where each month they receive products and are subsequently billed for them. This has drawn skeptics from many angles, and of course, when presented right, it is a great program for people. However, many companies are finding that customers would rather not be deceived in this practice.

These are some of the many faces of wrinkle creams, which are part of a multi-billion dollar industry in anti aging. There are certainly going to be some big changes as we evolve into more advanced science, but I feel the industry has made leaps and bounds since I've started covering anti aging skin care topics.
