The Man who Lost Everything

This article is about a true person who had learned a life lesson the hard way and it ends up causing him his life.
A boy from a rather poor family was growing up in the suburbs. His family didn’t own much but they were very close to each other and loved each other greatly. This boy, named William had a few close friends at school too so basically, other than the fact that he was poor, his life seemed to be pretty good.

Everything that is, except a dark thought slowly getting its foothold in his mind. "One day, I’m gona make it out of this hell-hole and become rich," the thought had told him and it started out innocently enough. He didn’t think it was a bad thing. He had been getting pretty good grades at school and he was interested in business. One important thing he remembered throughout his high school years was always to make some time for his friends. Jack had done that and people had become to know him as someone who’s always there to talk to. Jack became very popular at school his final year and then he went to college. That’s when it all changed. That seemingly innocent thought had two feet in his mind now and it was banging on his door, screaming to be let in. Jack figured his dream was already coming true since he’s not living at home and in college. He figured he’d get into business and make a lot of money. Jack put all his effort into studying and getting good grades. Making time for his friends and family wasn’t a priority for him anymore. His family began to see less and less of him. His high school friends didn’t hear from him either. At college, hardly anyone knew him.

Fast forward to the present. Jack is in his late 40s now. His dream had come true. He had gotten out of his "hell-hole" of friends and family that loved him even though it was in a poor environment and he is rich now. He’s the CEO of his company and he owns a great deal of its stock. Jack sits in his big leather armchair, alone in a big mansion, staring at the fireplace with a bottle of Hennesy in one hand and a revolver in the other, thinking. Thinking about all the people he stepped over to get to where he was, thinking about all the people he manipulated to get to his position. He’s thinking about all the people who loved him that he had left behind. He takes a sip of whiskey, cocks the gun then…

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world and yet lose or forfeit his very self." *
