The Luckiest Fool in the World
One of many random poems.
‘Happiness is never truly found’
This is what the old man said to me
‘It is not one that you can stumble across
In a fantastical blunder,
But the grace of chance must
Choose you to be the luckiest
Soul there is, and then
You can only know
Happiness is the joy of all joys’
I did not understand then,
In my younger days
The precision of the
Meaning in his words,
Yet once the right seasons
Had matured me,
His wisdom came to life before me.
The grace of chance touched my heart that day
And brought me to your door.
I cannot see my future beyond the present,
Yet I see this emptiness beside you.
The lives of a thousand
Pass swiftly by without
Ever knowing love as pure
As my love for you.
I can see in you face
That I am the luckiest man
There has ever been,
I can see your pristine and perfect Soul
Through your glassy eyes, and I can say
That I love you and that I will spend
My remaining years with you alone,
And that at last I can understand
The senile ramblings of an old fool.
But a fool may yet find himself to be
The luckiest fool in the world.
