The Lover That Knits

Quite sad story/poem, about 2 individuals who are destined to be, but can't be together. It's based on my own story but put into a fictional context. A personal favorite of mine. Enjoy.
I see a shadow far away
It's not clear, even in day
I follow the shape and get nearer
The closer I get, it becomes clearer
And then I see that it's a woman sitting
I go over to her, to where she's knitting
I look down to see what she has made
As she looks up I see her eyes starting to fade
A single tear falls down to the wool
I notice it fall into the small pool
I ask her what's wrong
And she sings a song
She sings quietly never looking up
She sings a song as I catch her tears in a cup
She mutters of trouble and woes
She whispers as her body tos and fros
It is not a real language that she speaks
But an ancient language spoken as she weeps
Her hair is long, golden locks of beauty
Her scent of an angel, slightly fruity
I lean closer to her and tell her "I'm sorry,
Please don't cry, Please don't worry"
I don't know why I said these things
But I could see she had such damaged wings
I look at her work that she sits and knits
And notice how the work has been cut into slits
She holds it together to show the picture as one
It looks more radiant than the morning sun
It's a portrait of another, shower her other half cry
But as I look more closely and I start to pry
I see this picture is starting to move
I see how the tears stain and remove
This little person in the portrait
Seems to be in such a dreadful state
This small being is scratching away
Stopping occasional to start to pray
He is trapped in the picture, trapped inside
He splashes around in the tears she has cried
Then I see that the slits in these paper, these rips
Are from where he has clambered- he made those rips!
He is shredding the picture to try and get free
It starts to become clear, I start to see!
These lovers are destined to be together
But the past has left there connection in tatters and tether
And as she cries for him, she drowns his soul
And her tears start to burn a large hole
As he reaches for her from inside the knitting
It is clear that he is gradually ripping
They love each other it would seem
To be together is their dream
But they're love has a curse from the past
Which means that their sadness will forever last
The more they wish for each other, the more they die
So the woman is just left too continuously cry
As the shredded wool that she once made
Starts to shred and fade
I look down at her, in her misery and pain
I see her slowly turning insane
There's nothing I can do for these love-struck souls
I cant mend these tear-burned holes
So I walk away and leave her crying
As her soul inside is gently dying
