The Love that Haunts You

Heather is new in town and is used to that feeling. She starts to hear noises in her new home and is wondering about what's going on. She gets in a car accident and wonders what's up with Sam's eyes, who did she hit with her car, and where are the noises coming from?
Mom likes to run away a lot. From her problems I mean. I never had a true home... never had a true friend. When will my time come when Heather can do what she wants? HUH!? Mom said this time we are going to stay forever. Ha! That's what she said for the past 17 years! But she sounds genuine this time. I'll give it a try.

"See, isn't she beautiful," my mom said as we walked in the old two-story house. "I know it's not the best house in the area, but we can make it our own." She said trying to convince me. I said nothing because whenever I talk it ends up me stomping to my room slamming the door from an argument. This time we had movers to set everything in place for us. I kind of missed unwrapping the plastic off the china. It started to become a hobby for me. "Let me show you your room." Mom said excitedly. I just myself up the screeching stairs. I looked at my mom and she said, "I can fix that!" Yea like you tried to fix the sink and flooded the house... yea what a great job! We walked up to the last door down the long hallway. "Are you ready for your dream room!" Mom said. "I guess I'll have to be," I replied.

Then the door opened into MY DREAM ROOM! It had one twilight fan wall and shelves filled with books I could ever like and want. The walls were covered in bright pink, green, blue and purple dots everywhere and a grand chandelier hanging from the middle of the room. The room was huge! It had my own computer, own stereo system, and walk-in closet. I ran to my mom and gave her a hug I haven't given in what seems like never. "You deserve it Heather." She said knowing what I was feeling.

She left me to adventure my room. I was surprised at how she got everything I wanted. How did she know? I guess a mother knows. I immediately ran and picked up the book I was just waiting to get, "Wings," from the shelf. When suddenly I heard a faint noise of door closing in my room. I looked around and just saw the sheer curtain flowing in the wind from when the door closed. But... no one was there. This scared the crap out of me. I just stood still for several minutes hoping being still would hide me.

Later that evening mom took us to McDonald's for dinner. Mom never cooks until she feels like it. UUGH! I hate her laziness and she blames it on me. "Heather, school starts next Monday." Mom said. "Great!" I said sarcastically. I hated school I always had the dream to go to University of Alabama at Birmingham and become a Pediatrician but my grades seemed to make that dream fade away. "This is your last year and I want you to make it count ok?" "Yea." I replied.

We arrived home and I couldn't wait to lay in my bed and enjoy my dream room. I found all new clothes because somehow the movers lost our clothes and gave us an estimate amount of money to replace them. I went to lay down when I heard a slight laugh right behind me... near my closet. I jumped in bed and hid under the covers like I did when I was scared. Then the closet door shut slowly. Whatever it was its gone. But something in me said it would come back. I barely went to sleep that night.

First day of school... great. I was used to this routine. Walk in while everybody looks at me weird and sit alone at the lunch table. Mom bought me a car last year cause she couldn't pick me up from school in time from work and I hated school buses. While driving to school I realized I didn't exactly know where I was going. Then I pulled over to see these group of kids walking. "Hi! I'm new here and I need to get to..." One young man with the most beautiful eyes stood in the midst of them. Those... light brown eyes just... took my breath away. He smiled with those gorgeous teeth just the way I like them and said, "Hey I can show you but Imma need a ride?" I just stared... and stared and he laughed and said, "Hey do you want directions or what?" With the cutest smirk. "YEAH! Yeah sorry long morning ha ha." I laughed nervously.

He hoped in and told his friend he will meet them by the football field. We pulled off while I saw a girl who looked pretty angry that he was riding in the car with me. "Hey my name is Samuel, but you can call me Sam!" He said looking right at me with those piercing eyes. "I'm Heather and thanks for the help." He looked at me the whole ride while telling me directions. It got kind of creepy so I asked him what he was looking at. "Your eyes... they are pretty." Thank God for my coco complexion or he would have seen that I was blushing. We got to a stop light. "We will keep straight." I used this opportunity to look at him and he was still looking right at me. "You're kind of annoying me by staring." "They are my eyes. I can do what I want with them." I looked at him appalled and laughed and said, "Look I don't have time for your foolish games!"

"Well I guess you don't have time for my directions either." He said starting to get out the car.
"Ok! Ok..." I replied.
"I thought so." He said with a smirk.
We finally arrived to the school when I realized it was a straight shot from my house. "This is it?!?! I could have found it myself."

"Well, you're welcome!!" He said with sarcasm.
"Yea, thanks anyway!" I said while getting out of the car.
"Don't you need help with getting around school?" He yelled after me.
"No I think I can find everything else myself. Pretty sure it's a straight shot! I said while giving him a sarcastic smile.

Great!! He was in all my classes except one. This annoyed me to the fullest. I wasn't exactly fond of him. He was so annoying. But I would never get tired of looking at his eyes. They just had something about them. Lunchtime came and he sat in front of me. "So, how do you like Hilton so far?"

"I would like to eat my lunch in peace please." I said avoiding his eyes.
"Well don't you have an attitude!" He replied.
"You can leave now." I said.
"Alright I'll leave you alone sorry for trying to be nice." And he walked up and left.
I felt bad but he was so worrisome! But I couldn't hate him for being nice to me.

Later I drove to the store to go pick up my prescription glasses my mom ordered in from my old eye doctor. I needed them while driving. On my way home it started pouring down. I went to go reach in my purse for my glasses while steadying the wheel. It seemed like I couldn't find them so I looked down for just one quick second and looked up and saw someone walking at night in the rain. I swirled to avoid them but hit them and ran into a light pole. Then there was darkness...
