The Love I Threw Away

My first poem on this site....if you like it let me know
You were the sunset
That calmed the tides
The sparkling stars
Within my eyes

The moon that hung
Above my world
One true love
For a loveless girl

You were everything
I never asked you to be
And gleamed like an angel
Right beside me

The end to a life
Dreary with hate
A lover sent to me
By the kindness of fate

I thought i was selfless
In letting you go
For my heart did not deserve
The love you bestowed

So I told you to leave
And make your own life
There is someone better
Who deserves your light

And I walked away
Not knowing then
That I would think of you
Over and over again

And I realize now
What could have been
And what will be
In the end

I cannot love
My heart is tainted
By the picture of love
That you have painted

My guideline to
What love should be
That nobody but you
Could show to me

So I’ll spend my life
In love with you
Never saying a word
Cause its the right ting to do

But when I pass you and glance your way
Please don’t bring up that awful day
When I packaged my love up neatly
Then tossed it away
