The Lost Princess: Chapter One

Lila thought she was just a normal girl, but one day she comes to find out that she is actually a lost princess from another realm!
"Lila?"

"Mmm?" I mumbled, not lifting my head up off the desk to look at my best friend. My head was killing me. My whole body hurt. I felt like crap.

"Are you sure that you're okay?" That was Amber, always worrying about me.

I was silent for a moment while I thought about it. I woke up that morning feeling like I had been hit with a semi.

"Are you sure you don't need to go home?" She asked when I didn't reply.
I still said nothing. Amber raised her hand and told the teacher that I wasn't well. At this point I lifted my head up and looked around. I must've been quite a sight because Mrs. Carnes took one look at me and sent me straight to the nurse.

The nurse, in turn asked me if I felt well enough to drive because it was evident that I needed to go home. I told her yes and signed myself out.

Walking out to the parking lot, I did my best to not focus on the pain that I felt throughout my body. That was when it hit me. My knees hit that ground as unbearable pain shot through my body. My belongings hit the ground, scattering papers everywhere. I screamed, clutching my head, willing for it to stop. I don't know how long I was like that, but eventually the pain subsided enough for me to stand up, grab my things, and make my way to my car.

As I climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine, I prayed that I wouldn't be overcome again, especially not while driving.

My wish was answered and I made it home safely. I walked stiffly through the front door and went to put my books and purse in my room. Then I began to look for my mother. She would know what to do. Momma always knew.

She apparently heard me moving about in the house and called from the living room.

"Lila, is that you-"She stopped talking mid sentence when I walked around the corner. Upon seeing me, her jaw dropped. Damn, did I really look that bad? I surveyed the room and saw 2 men sitting on the couch opposite my mother.
They were both breathtakingly beautiful, but very different in their appearances.

One of them looked at me and said to my mother and his companion, "We must get her to her own realm before she goes any further into the change." He seemed harsh and strict. I looked from person to person in confusion.

"Uhm, what?" I asked.

"Princess, " said the man who had yet to speak, "we have come to take you back to your kingdom. You are beginning the transformation into adulthood and you must come back quickly," said the other man. His voice was kinder and calmer.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, looking to my mother for help.

"Lila, let me explain. You aren't actually my daughter." She paused for a moment before attempting to continue. I cut her off, angrier than I have ever been in my life.

"What do you mean?! I look jus t like you for crying out loud! Are you saying you have lied to me my entire life?!"

My mother, stunned by my outburst, said nothing for a moment.
"Darling, you don't understand."

"Like hell I don't!"

I had planned to say more but the pain in my body momentarily strengthened and I had to stop and wrap my arms around my chest.

"Josephine, we must take her back now or she will die here!" said the harsher of the two men.

"Look at her, she already looks half dead and her hormones are beginning to fluctuate drastically," commented the calmer man.

I listened to them in awed silence. They must be insane. Escaped from an asylum or something... That was what I thought until I heard my mother's response.

"You are right, Bartolemey. She must go."

"Oh my god, you're all crazy." I said slowly. "I'm not going anywhere with any of you."

The two men started towards me. It was clear that they intended to take me by force. I took a few steps back and collapsed, pain coursing through me yet again. I screamed and screamed. I could hear my mother's (or whoever she was) voice crying, asking the men if I was okay. I felt strong arms pick me up. I kept on screaming and writhing in agony. I could tell that the men were trying to restrain me, to no avail. Then, as soon as it all started, it stopped and I slipped beyond the veil and into a dark abyss of unconsciousness.
