The List

Sequel to the rise.
"Where you headed young lady?" The old lady behind the desk is looking at me through the top of her glasses. I know she is looking at my eyes.

"Los Angles please." I am being polite as possible; it just waiting in line for 2 hours really annoys the crap out of you.

"Is this a round trip?"

"No it not." She nods and takes five minutes typing on that little keyboard.

"Alright we have a flight that leaves in an hour but there are only first class seats left. The next flight doesn’t leave for anther four hours." She looks me dead in the eye. I didn’t want to resort to this but here we go. "Oh, I am so sorry. Here are your tickets. Hurry through gate 44 A. They should be boarding here shortly."

"Thanks so much." I take off through the airport and board my plane. The ride wasn’t to long just incredibly boring but it was nice to be pampered in the first class seats. Some one at least every five minutes asked if I needed a drink or a pillow or some food. It was nice, kind of like a butler. I enjoyed this because it was probably going to be awhile before I ever get treated like this again.

The flight however, sadly came to an end. I exited and went to rent a car. I got a jeep commander sport and drove into L.A. I parked in a parking structure close to China Town. I got out and walked towards the town. I had on big sunglasses since it was sunny and it helped keep the attention off of me. I shadowed my self unconsciously. I guess it was just my self protectiveness kicking in. I sniffed the note and the building she was in became a lot clearer. She was in the upstairs of a Chinese restaurant a block up.

I entered and walked straight up the stairs. The lady was looking out the window. She was slim, and she wasn’t Chinese. Her skin was pale white and her dark. I leaded against the door frame that entered the room she was in. I slowly unshadowed myself so she would since I was there.

"Impressive." She turned around and faced me. "I honestly did not believe your dad when he told me that you were real. Its crazy, I know this is horrible to ask but can you show me some things you can do." I lift her phone and bring it over to her and two seconds after I stop it rings. "Very impressive. I don’t need to answer that." I threw it done and snapped my fingers and watched as it disappeared. I felt footsteps coming up the stairs and I shadowed myself. "Don’t worry, he’s on your side and he’s your help and your new right hand man."

"Sorry, Instinct." I turned to face the boy. He was just the same age as me and he looked like the perfect mixture of Heath Ledger and Adam Brody. Needless to say he was extremely handsome.

"Hey, I am Caden."

"Rayne." He shook my hand politely.

"So your real, everyone believes you are just a myth." I smile.

"Nope I am real." I turn back to face Dahlia. "My father said he left anther letter with you." She hands it to me, and I head toward the couch pressed against a window and sit down. Both Caden and Dahlia stand in the entry way.

Rayne,

I am already proud that you have gotten this far. Its about to get harder. Dahlia has given you a companion for a little moral support and so you have some one to talk to. Here is a list of names. The first person on this list is the ones who scent is on this paper. The rest you have to find on your own.

1.) Suko Emory.

2.) Isaiah Hendrix

3.) Jeremiah Mars

4.) Evelyn Matters
Good luck, I have faith in you.

Love,

Dad.

I sniffed the paper and flashes of a place just a few blocks from here. I looked up at them and they were staring intently at me.

"Suko always keeps and army with him at all times."

"No problem, I know exactly what I and Caden have to do. It’s fine."

"Exactly what do we have to do?"

"Come on, Ill tell you on the way there. Thank you so much Dahlia." Caden and I walk down the stairs and he is anxiously waiting for me to tell him what we are going to do. We get on the street and we started walking towards the place I saw. I shadowed both me and Caden.

"You’re shadowing me, and what’s the plan?"

"Yes, and all you have to do is fallow my lead." He nods as I finally have the building in sight. I lead us around to the back of the building and knock on the door. A slightly burley man answers it. He is carrying a pistol. He doesn’t think were anybody so he doesn’t draw it out. With a flick of the wrist I throw his outside and into the dumpster. I lift his gun off of him and enter the building.
"I am starting to get a bad feeling about this."
"Don’t, none of them even have the smidgen on power I do." I feel determined. We enter the main hall and I burst through the door as I spot five men surrounding one man sitting behind the desk. "Suko Emory." I slowly unshadow myself and Caden.
"Well it seems you are real. What a pleasant surprise, way to make things easier on my end. Kill them." Gun fire exploded. So I threw my gun to Caden who caught it, I put up a thick wall to protect us from bullets, fire, anything. "Impressive, I must say." With one hand I keep the shield steady and with the other I start to push their guns around towards them. Their panicked yells and struggles fill the room as the barrel of the guns slowly turns in their faces.

"Do you have something of Isaiah’s?" His eyes are wide but still edgy and calm.

"He gave me that chair behind you." I rub my hand on it and sniff to make sure. He was telling the truth. I fired the five guns that surrounded him. I snapped my fingers and the bodies disappeared. He gave a sharp intake of breath. "Incredible."
"You were one of the men who killed my father."
"Yes and I am terribly sorry for your loss. Come join the brotherhood, you would make us unstoppable."
"I am afraid I have other plans and oh I see something. So do you, go burn in hell."
