The Link Dilution Debate
Are links heavily devalued if there are a large number of other ones on the same page or is it all just scaremongering. Is link dilution a credible theory?
Low Quality Links
As of late there has been a flurry of chat about The Dilution Of Links and it's good to know that there is some heady debate going on .
If some of the theories are right then it's a topic that a lot of individuals who are self proclaimed IM'ers ( that's internet marketers), will think about long and hard and inspect a little more before they lose some of that gain that they think they have ahead of the curve.
The fundamental idea around The Diluting Of Links, is based around there being too many out bound links on a page and that means those link dilute the worth of all the do follow links on the given page and hence decreases the worth page in general.
Considering this hypothesis, various internet marketers, webmasters and site owners are mulling long and hard about how they assemble their sites, myself included.
Upon Reflection
The simplest thought that comes to mind is the question of resource box back links and is one more valuable than 2 outbound links because of the possible sharing of value.
It would appear that 2 links share the value, ergo it may in fact be better to only put one link in a post's author box to gain the greatest reward from that singular link.
Also it shows that regularly the search engines may not catalog every back link on a link infested page, though this may mean site maps couldn't be useful and I don't believe this to be possible.
Paid Links - A Conundrum Or A Bad Idea
I believe the major development on the idea of The Diluting Of Links is the status of paid-for-hyperlinks, since it would seem that a paid front page link could be much less in value if the links on that page increase.
They usually always do.
What if you were paying for a pr 9 link for $400 a month and being the single link on that page, then all of a sudden there popped up 20 extra outbound links next to yours. It would hurt your link
That would massively devalue your link and it would be be closer to the value of a pr three link, and you wouldn't fork over hundreds of dollars each month for that right?
So it's a interesting choice when you think how to process this theory or even if you believe that diluted links has any role or if it's just like all theories - There to be disproven. Whatever happens next could be very significant?
