The Lighter Side of Everything; Samsung’s Omnia Lite

A Little Big Phone

The Omnia Lite by Samsung lives up to its name, a little more compact, a little less fussy and all in all, a little weaker than its big brothers. However, do not let that fool you into thinking that this phone is drab; the specifications of this mobile handset are still far beyond what the average person needs for day to day usage. It looks sleek and is easy to carry; the lite also refers to the weight of the mobile phone, a scant hundred grams will be barely noticeable while it hangs from your lanyard or sits quietly in your coat pocket.

For a small device, the Samsung Omnia Lite B73000 packs a lot of processing power thanks to the hardware Samsung has put in. Not exactly what you would expect from a small phone, but a welcome surprise none the less. You will not see much by just staring at it. The front is almost completely occupied by the touch screen, as with most touch screen phones: they all look alike up front. Thankfully the back has a beautiful design and excellent glass finish.

Edging out the Competition

The Omnia Lite is 12.98 millimeters thin, this is not the slimmest phone you can get, but is it is more than slim enough. With technology, the best designs are always the specs that still stay a just a tad bit short of the most extreme possible specification. This is because gadgets with the smallest or largest or most powerful specifications tend to become novelty items instead. Samsung plays it smart by creating a phone small enough to be unobtrusive, but not so much that it becomes a source of ridicule. The width and height closely follow the edges of the screen keeping the device compact.

Nothing More, Nothing Less

As previously mentioned, the Samsung Omnia Lite does not have the same specifications of its non-Lite brothers. This does not imply that the mobile is a weak phone at all. The touch screen is generously large and has a wide 240 by 400 resolution display. For a small phone, the big screen is a pleasant feature since screen size is often sacrificed in other devices.

Samsung’s built in TouchWiz user interface technology also shines brightly with this handheld placing all the useful features easily available at your fingertips. You can also run Windows Mobile Professional from this phone without any slowdown or hardware problems. You also get the benefit of WiFi, 3.5G and GPS technology with this mobile phone.
