The Life of a Warrior Princess - Chapter 2

10 years later.....

"Holy crap!" I yell frantically, "Jade! My hands! My hands are on fire!" In a state of pure panic, I rush to the palace's kitchen and thrust my hands under the tap. Why hadn't I begun to burn yet? Jade followed in behind me laughing hysterically. I was mad. The flames got bigger. "I am on fire! Don't just stand there! Help me!" I scream at her.
"Oh calm down Meags!" she scolded me, "Are you burning?"
"No..."
"Are your hands in pain?"
"No..."
"Perfect."
I stare at her for a long moment, "What are you proposing Jade?"
"I'm not proposing anything! I am telling you what's going on." She shot me a smirk, "You are growing into your powers. Duh." She smiles at me and nudges me with her elbow. I roll my eyes.

"My powers?" I laugh, "Jade, you are the only one with powers here. I'm just a normal princess with nothing better to do than curtsey all day." I sigh heavily and give her a look.
"Haha, very funny." She says, "Meagan this whole time the world has been hiding from you." I stare at her. "Look at me." She flexes her fingers and her hands become engulfed with a green glow. Acid. "You can't tell me this is normal."
I look down at my hands, "Well, I guess not... but do you mean that there are a lot more people like us?"
"Yes, in a way." She explains, "You see, you and I are the last species of our kind, you are the last mego, and I am the last shego. But, there are so many others out there with powers Meagan, you could call it normal."
"Mego..." I ponder this thought. I am the last mego in the world? That is so cool.
"Meagan," Jade begins, "since you are the last mego, you must be trained to stay alive. I am very good at this, so I will train you." She smiles at me. "This will be fun." She turns and walks out of the kitchen. I still stare at my hands. How do I turn them off?

"Jade wait!" I yell, "How do I turn them off!" I chase after her up the stairs and into the gym.
I enter the gym to darkness. I could see absolutely nothing.
"Jade?" I ask into the blackness. No answer. "Jade?!" more panicky this time. Suddenly black lights light up a hallway in the midst of the black whole. Where did this come from? I walk into it, alert, but not afraid. The hallway is an octogon shape, with steel bars framing each of its sides. The hall feels a lot longer than wat I had expected. I hear footsteps behind me. I allow a quick glimpse from behind and then struck in the gut. A man dressed in some sort of ensemble that made him look like an apprentice from Star Wars had just kicked me square in the abdomen. I quickly spring up from the ground with a sort of bounce I have never had before. We stare each other down for a bit and then he goes in again. This time I drop to all fours and swipe one of my legs right under his feet, with a very strong force. Holy crap! How in the world did I just do that?! The man fell on his back and is groaning, with annoyance I think. He springs back up once again, but I beat him this time. Like instinct, I grab him by the neck and smile. He is gagging. I throw him across the hallway to the other end so he hits a wall. I hear a loud cracking sound of his skull hitting metal. That has got to hurt. I move quickly through the rest of the hallway, unafraid. So many questions are bouncing around in the back of my mind. I feel lost and confused. Distracted, I walk into a wall.

"Ouch!" I moan. I am going to have a bruise. A gross bruise. Big and ugly purple blotch on my forehead. Great, It just had to be my face. I stumble around dizzy for a minute. My head kills. Suddenly, the lights go out. My breathing starts to pick up. My heart picks up pace as well. I hear a deep laughter coming closer to me. Here comes the fear.
