The Legend Of Beatles
When did they start? Were they just talented or had they any studies in the music field? See the answers to these and other questions within this article.
Beatles are still nowadays some people’s all-time favorite band. Their success seems to be somehow moving on as years go by. This is largely due to the peaceful messages of their songs, but also for their catchy rhythms and also due to the members’ controversial lives and personalities. Yet, how did their story begin in the first place?
It all started with four British boys from Liverpool, who had not even reached their twenties back then. They used to sing at the school dances and parties, as Teddy Boys. They shared a common passion for a certain type of music, the rock’n’roll.
Another question would be, when exactly did the real band begin its musical career?
John Lennon and Paul McCartney had known each other since 1956 and were both great Elvis Presley fans. They were self-taught musicians, so they had no special studies in this field. In 1959 they made the very first tunes and two years later, together with George Harrison, they gave their very first concert in Liverpool. It is here that they met Brian Epstein who became their agent and thanks to whom they succeeded in starting their music career. The three also welcomed the percussionist Ringo Starr and chose to call themselves BEATLES.
The scene was thus already set. But what songs exactly did make them rich and famous? Their very first great hits were the ones of 1963- "She loves you" and "Please please me", which placed them on top of the English Hit Parade. Then followed many tours, records, TV shows and sounding ovations which accompanied all their appearances in public of those with "mushroom hair-do". The boys had already chosen their dress style and look; they already had an image, due to their manager’s advice and to the huge amount of money that they began to amass.
All these would soon turn into a real Beatles-madness. When did this Beatles mania burst out exactly? In 1964, while they were on USA tour, they got one thousand dollars for just one appearance. They were welcomed by thousands of fans at the airport, fans who had the same "mushroom hair-do" as them. The very first thing happened also in Europe, New Zealand, the Far East: the Beatles-mania had started and Beatles turned into victims which couldn’t even get out of their hotel rooms without being bothered by their frantic admirers.
Their songs covered a great number of themes, so that plenty of different people were able to relate to them, and this could explain their amazing success. Yet, according to the facts, the most successful songs belonging to this legendary band were among others "Michelle, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be" etc. Lennon and McCartney have composed more than a hundred songs out of which, for instance, the famous "Yesterday" was afterwards to be interpreted by over hundreds of singers. Also, let us not forget about the very popular tune "Twist and Shout", or the also danceable "Roll over Beethoven." Their music was meant to revolutionize everything people had heard so far, to shake their minds and sometimes even arouse people’s consciousness, and understand Beatles’ hippy, anti-war and anti-violent messages.
The way they managed to achieve fame was in fact very interesting. Yet how come those simple boys, with no special musical studies, actually got to be so successful? Did they succeed in capturing the spirit of an age, and thus gained the hearts of so many?
Well, the first thing we have to take into account is their amazing, undeniable music talent. They certainly could sing, and could play their instruments. Also, another thing was their good friendship that enabled them to give such great concerts and release such good albums. And another thing was their great desire to come up with something new and revolutionary. Especially in the beginning, their music was simple, attractive and had a good rhythm.
The language of the songs was the one used daily by the youth of that time. But those young people wanted to live free from any fake conformism. Beatles launched a new trend, and then became the 20th century’s greatest legend. In 1965, the Queen of England gave them the title of "Baronets." The band unfortunately broke up in 1977.
