The Last Victim Chapter Seven
Niko didn't know how long he stayed unconscious, he woke up feeling as if there is burnt coal in his stomach. He moaned in pain when he tried to move. David was sitting on the chair beside the bed smoking a cigarette. He was covered in blood and dust.
''See what have you done? You caused an innocent man to die for no reason except that he was the only doctor available!'' David said indignantly.
''Oh my God!'' Niko said in a weak voice barely heard.
David knelt down and rested his elbow on the bed and said while stroking Niko's golden hair ''You little bastard! The thought of loosing you tore my soul in half.''
''You…are…pathetic.'' Niko said with tears steaming on his face ''You killed the man.''
''My picture has been shown on TV and your wimp father is offering a big sum of money for anyone who gives any information, I wouldn't risk that the doctor go out of here and report what he has seen, is that not right?'' he said calmly, and then he took his face in his hands and said quietly ''Believe me, we are meant to be together, I've been searching for you my whole life, nothing…nothing…nothing will take you away from me again.''
''You are crazy, I can't believe what you are saying, what are you talking about?'' Niko said in pain.
David laughed out loud and then said wildly ''Oh my God!....the sissy boy who was shaking like a leaf and begging me is now being rude! When your wound heals, you need some whippings to bring you back to your senses.''
He stood up and filled a syringe and said ''Sweet dreams! While you are asleep I will go and get my prize, I won one million pounds! How lucky I am! I don't know for what and I don't care! I've got a trophy and a treasure now!''
He injected him and after few seconds Niko fell asleep. David took a shower and got ready to go out. In a moment he stopped and thought for a while, confusion invaded his face. He went to the kitchen and fetched a knife and climbed upstairs to the room where Niko is in. He raised the knife and was ready to stab Niko is his chest, but something stopped his hand where it is. He collected his himself and tried to do it again but he couldn't. Then he descended downstairs and put the knife back in the kitchen and said in anger ''Damn!''
David reached the place easily, he was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and white trousers. He covered his face with a large moustache and beard and wore large black sunglasses. He looked totally different from the picture shown on TV. He was received by a beautiful brunette who lead him to the place where he would receive his prize. Two men with black suits were waiting for him with flashing smiles.
''Congratulations Mr.Lukas! You've won our prize for being the 1,999, 999 visitor to our website Toys for Boys!''
David couldn't remember visiting a website with that name before but he said ''Thank you, I can't describe how happy I am!''
The other man put a black briefcase on the wooden table and opened it and said jokingly ''sit down and count your money!''
David drooled when he saw the pile of money. ''You've got to stand here and pose for the picture.'' The brunette said. They took like three pictures before David locked the briefcase and walk outside.
He stopped a taxi and jumped inside holding the briefcase as if carrying a baby.
Thirty minutes later he was sleeping on the bed next to Niko with a triumph smile on his face. ''I'm going to make us something to eat.'' He whispered.
On his way to the kitchen there was continuous knocking on the door. ''OPEN UP! POLICE'' a voice said from outside. ''OPEN UP OR WE WILL BREAK IN!''
''Oh my God! DAMN.'' David said in rage. He fetched a knife from the kitchen but on his way out the house was filled with police forces with their guns. Soon he was overpowered and handcuffed. ''NO NO NO….DON'T TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME…HE NEEDS ME….PLEASE ….NOOOOO…NOOOOO.'' he kept screaming while they were dragging him to the police car waiting outside.
The prize was nothing but a plot to capture him. Soon after Niko called his father from David's cell phone the police got the number and made the plan and executed it. The brunette, the guys in suits and the taxi driver were all police officers undercover. And the man we see running inside the house is Niko's father who insisted to be present in every step. He dashed inside the room like a storm to find the bewildered Niko lying in bed. In less than a second he grabbed him and pulled him to his chest and started to kiss him on the cheeks and nose and forehead and hair. Tears were gushing from his eyes and he couldn't stop saying that he was sorry.
Niko was confused ''Is it..is it over?''
''It's over..it's over darling.'' Rouvas said through his tears.
Roderigo was standing in the corner sobbing and watching while the ambulance took Niko and rushed him to the hospital.
