The Last Victim Chapter 27

''Niko wake up.'' Rouvas said loudly while shaking him. Niko grunted and turned on the other side.
''Niko, wake up it's 2:00 o'clock.'' Rouvas insisted.
Niko moaned and said unclearly ''It's still early.''
Rouvas pulled him up and yelled ''Wake up!''
Niko freed his himself from his grip aggressively and fell on the pillow again.
''Leave me alone, I went to bed on 5:00 am.'' He shouted.
Rouvas stood up and headed to the door saying ''When you wake up we will have a little talk!''
He went out and slammed the door behind him. Niko grabbed his jacket from the floor, searched inside the pockets and took out a small pill bottle, he swallowed two pills and fell asleep again. He woke up after three hours, took a shower and went downstairs. Rouvas was watching TV and said nothing while he walked to the kitchen. He asked Cathy to make him a cheddar cheese sandwich. He gulped it in front of the TV wondering why his father is so cold and silent,
''I'm going out.'' Niko said and stood up.
''Where are you going?'' Rouvas asked him as he was heading to the door.
''A pool party at a friend's house.'' Niko said crossing his arms in a challenging position.
''When are you coming back?'' Rouvas inquired looking in his eyes.
''I don't know maybe I will go somewhere after that.''
''Don't be late.''
''ok.''
Rouvas looked in worry outside the window as Niko jumped into the car. It has been three weeks since Niko started to go out and come back very late at night, sometimes in the early morning. He's not even interested in work and never asked how is it going. Rouvas didn't object because he thought that he needs some time to cheer up after what happened. He thought it is just a phase but it is taking so long. Where does he go? Who does he meet? Besides, the fact that David hasn't been caught yet keeps him in constant worry. Niko doesn't seem to care. He doesn't seem to care about anything except going out and sleeping till noon. ''That's not my son.'' He thought. His behavior and his appearance have changed.
He took the wireless phone and called Martin.
''Hi Martin.''
''Hi Mr. Rouvas how are you?''
''I'm fine.'' he paused and continued ''Are you going to meet Niko today?''
''No, in fact I haven't seen him for more than two weeks.''
''What about Nathan and Akmal?''
''I don't think so because the three of us meet regularly and none has mentioned seeing him.''
Martin could hear Rouvas's breath through the wire then he said after a moment of hesitation ''In fact, we feel that he avoids seeing us of returning our calls.''
''Why didn't you tell me? You are his friends, you are supposed to care!''
''We didn't know what to say and in fact by that we would risk getting in trouble as he has a very bad temper lately, he even punched Akmal is a tantrum.''
Rouvas tried to reply calmly but he couldn't so he kept silent and clinched his fist in anger.
''I'm sorry.'' Martin said quietly.
''It's ok. Thank you Martin, bye'' Rouvas muttered and hang the phone violently.
