The Last Victim Chapter 13

''We have prepared everything for the birthday party.'' Nathan said to Rouvas excitedly. Nathan is one of Niko's childhood friends. Niko has a lot of friends, but the closest ones were Nathan, Akmal and Martin.

''The banners, the balloons, the cake, the decorations and the drinks, everything is ready!''

''Thank you guys.'' Rouvas said gratefully.' I hope that cheers him up, since he regained the memory of what happened, he is just……he is..'' He couldn't continue as he felt a lump is his throat.

''We will do our best, this is what friends are there for.'' Martin said cheerfully.

''Ok I will go and get him from the Xray room.'' Akmal said.

Rouvas said to the Nathan and Martin quickly ''Please tell the others not to show exaggerated sympathy!.''

It was a beautiful birthday party. All Niko's friends attended and he received beautiful presents. But still he was not the same Niko they knew. He became so quiet and his eyes always seemed teary. He was not Niko who used to tease them and mash the cakes on their faces, he was more like a soulless person, a zombie. Few words he uttered and his smiles were more like someone who is going to burst out crying.

''Aren't you going to open the presents? Come on!.'' One the girls said.

''Yeah, open the presents.'' Another said.

''Ok, ok.'' He said with a faint smile.

He opened the presents, one by one, he got sunglasses, Portable Play Station, music CD's and other beautiful goodies.

''There is still one to go.'' Nathan said.

''It's a very big one.'' Roderigo said jokingly.

Niko opened the box, and there was another smaller box in it.

''Is this a joke?'' Martin said laughing out loud.

Everyone was watching in anticipation as the smaller box had another smaller box inside. He opened the smaller box and inside, there were two eyeballs covered in blood, a pruning saw scabbard and a message that says ''I NEVER LEAVE A WORK UNFINISHED.''

Girls screamed out loud and boys turned their faces away in disgust. Rouvas put away the box quickly and shouted in anger ''How did that box get here?''

''I don't know.'' Nathan said nervously.

''Me neither'' Akmal said shaking his head.

''So do I'' Martin muttered.

''What do you mean? Some invisible man can in here and put it? He came here..in front of our eyes and put? Tell me …you are the ones who prepared the party, who put that here!'' Rouvas yelled.

Everybody was silent, tension filled the room, and all the people were exchanging a puzzled look. Niko gave no reaction, he leaned back in the bed and stared at nowhere. Rouvas's hands were shaking from anger and veins swelled in his neck and forehead.

''Rouvas, calm down.'' Roderigo sputtered.

''NO I WILL NOT…I WILL NOT CALM DOWN.''

''Daddy, stop please.'' Niko said in a choking voice.

Rouvas hired two bodyguards. Their duty was to protect Niko physically and not to allow anyone to enter Niko's room without checking his ID. Niko turned to the door when he heard footsteps, it was detective Morris and another man with him supposedly his partner.

''How are you feeling now Niko?'' Morris said with a fresh smile.

''With you coming in like that, I feel like the victims in law and Order and CSI.'' Niko muttered.

Morris looked at his partner and laughed then said seriously ''Niko we want to ask you a few questions, I need you to know that whatever you say will lead us to David Lukas.''

''I hope you keep him locked this time.'' Niko said bitterly.

''Niko, how did he kidnap you?'' Morris asked seriously.

Niko gave an accounting of the kidnapping.

''When you were chained in the attic, what happened?''

''I think you know.'' Niko said with hidden anger.

''I want you to tell me Niko.''

Niko didn't reply.

''Did he rape you?''

''Yes.'' Niko whispered looking down

''How many times?'' Morris partner, Larry, said.

Niko glared daggers at him and said ''Is that necessary?''

''No, no it's not.'' Morris declared.

''What else did he do?'' Morris said after a pause.

Niko was silent.

''The forensic evidence says that solid objects were………….''

''STOP'' Niko shouted.

''There were also bruises and signs of flogging……''Morris continued as if he didn't hear him.

''I SAID STOP!!.'' Niko screamed starting to loose it.

The bodyguards rushed inside, one of them said ''What's going on here?''

''This is an official investigation big guy.'' Larry said.

''GO OUT! GO OUT OF HERE…''

''Can you recollect yourself and tell us what happened instead of screaming like a sissy?'' Morris said angrily.

''Get the hell out of here before I blow off your nose.'' A firm voice said from the back.

''Ho ho ho daddy came in the right time.'' Morris said scornfully.

Rouvas walked to him calmly and punched him in the stomach.

''Stop it, stop it or you will arrested.'' Larry yelled.
