The Invasion

Finally, eighteen years old Sara McBride has started her new life. Starting college in a few months and dating, Timmy Terke, Sara feels like she has it all. Ten days before she officially became a college girl, aliens invaded Earth. In the struggle against the foreign beasts, Sara loses her boyfriend and father leaving her only with her sister, Hannah. Six months later and nearly all the human population is wiped out.
Pulling a cracked picture out of a box I found in my dad's old house, tears form in my eyes. Who would have known that in few months everything could change so fast? I brushed back my short brown hair from my face, tucking it securely in behind my ear before standing up on shaky legs.

"Sara," my sister calls my name from the doorway and I turn to look at her.

Her blonde hair hung loosely around her shoulders, her blue eyes weary, and her body sagging against the door as if it could no longer stand by itself.

"It's time to go," her voice is tight and I know how she must be feeling.

"They will find us here if we stay," she walks over, straightening her back and grabbing my hand.

I look into her tired eyes before nodding my head, my fingers tightly gripping the picture, and follow her out of the room.

"We can't let them take over," I vent once we are in the car and driving out of Austin, Texas.

My sister doesn't say anything, and instead flicks on the radio. Once I would have heard the sound of a human voice singing through the speakers, but now all you heard was jumbled up garage that was the aliens form of music.

"Where are we going?" I ask Hannah with a small yawn and she looks over at me with a sad smile.

"Close your eyes, lil sissy. Go to sleep and I'll wake you up when we get there," she pats my head once and I obey, closing my eyes.

Exhausted, I find myself slipping into the black cloud that offers release.

"Don't wake her, please. She doesn't know. Finn, look at me. She will freak out if she finds out about... about this. I love you, I do and I promise one day we will be together," I hear my sister's voice and pretend to still be asleep.

I will freak if I knew about what?

"I love you too," a male's voice is strange like he was speaking through a bad speaker.

I peek my eyes open and see Hannah standing next to a green looking creature. It doesn't take my mind long to register the fact that the green looking, kind of human thing was in fact an alien. My sister had fallen in love with one of them? After all they had done to us?

"Take her to the group. She needs to wake up with humans by her and I have to be there. I'm all she has left, Finn," Hannah's voice gets all choked up and the alien reaches for her.

His tentacle rubbing her back slowly up and down. I shiver in disgust and close my eyes again, trying to control my breathing.

"I'll be with you soon, my love," she kisses him and this time I can't hide the gag of repulsion that takes over me.

Seconds later and my sister is standing by my side, and the alien is gone.

"Hey, we are almost there," she says with a fake smile on her lips and I arch an eyebrow.

She grabs my hand and squeezes as I feel a weird electrical pulse run through it.

"Go back to sleep we are-," her voice fades away as I'm oddly drawn back to the black cloud of sleep.

I try resisting but my body just doesn't listen to me and my mind clicks off and I sleep, again.

I wake to bright lights, and a white room. The first thought running through my mind is if I have died. I quickly shack off that thought and jump at the sound of a door opening. Hannah walks in the room, followed by a tall man.

"Sara, this is Nick. Nick, this is Sara," Hannah introduces us to each other and I eye him suspiciously.

He doesn't seem too happy to be introduced to me either.

"Nick is your trainer," she explains but my eyes stay glued on Nick.

His black hair is cut short, scars run all over the part of his arms I can see, and his brown eyes look cold but efficient.

"My trainer?" I asked, suddenly feeling like I didn't know my sister.

"He is going to train you to help you survive against the aliens," she rubbed the bridge of her nose.

I brought my knees up to my chest, hugging the rest of my body.

"Okay," I dropped my legs off the edge of the bed I was sitting on and jumped off.

Did I trust my sister? Yes, yes I did.

"I'm going to take care of some business. I might not be back for a while Sara," she pulls me into a hug and I return it.

"Take care of her Nick or I will hunt your ass down with Finn and kill you," she threatens him and releases me from the hug.

"Whatever. At least I'm not in love with a -," he was cut off by a hard slap to his cheek.

"You know the rules Nick," she warned and left.

"Well," I opened my sweaty palms and held them up, attempting to offer something to him.

"I'll take you to your room," his face a mask, holding no emotion on it.

My legs felt rooted to the ground but I managed to take a step toward him when he disappeared in the hallway. It's okay, I told myself over and over. Trust Hannah, she know what she is doing. I hope.

I feel bad for not updating Marks... so I'll update it right now. Let me just warn you now... I usually don't finish a story I've started. I know that makes you not want to read it, but I just wanted to share my idea with everybody. The ideas in my head of stories. :D
